Hi folks,
New to the forum so apologies if this has been answered somewhere before but I couldn't find an existing topic that exactly matched this one.
I'm looking to buy a second hand Roc (2.0 TSI GT, black and with leather upholstery and fairly high spec – as much in the way of parking sensors, Dynaudio, SatNav/RNS-510 etc as possible). I’d prefer to buy from a VW dealership, mainly for peace of mind though I understand that’ll cost me a bit more.
I found one particular model at a VW dealer going for a decent price and with everything except the SatNav (it comes with the RCD-510). I enquired about the cost of retrofitting an RNS-510 unit and was quoted £2820 (inc. VAT and fitting). That seemed excessively high for a unit that costs around £1000 or less when ordered with a new car.
The dealer offered a Kenwood system (£995) which has more functionality in terms of Bluetooth etc, but I’m not a massive fan of that as it renders the MDI/arm rest inputs for iPod etc useless and forces you to plug in via the front of the unit which looks a bit messy in my opinion.
So I guess my question is…is £2820 the standard price for getting SatNav retrofitted by VW?
My other option (apart from foregoing the satnav…) is to go with a private company (http://www.oemretrofits.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; etc.), but my concern there is that I may end up paying for an older unit that only has 5-digit postcode search, or will mean I lose the optical proximity display that currently pops up on the RCD display, linked to the rear parking sensors. Has anyone used any of these companies recently for retrofitting SatNav and can confirm if the optical display is preserved?
Any advice much appreciated!
Cheers,
David

Take a look here http://www.carsystems.pl/volkswagen-nav ... ,id87.html
I have bought this one from them , which has latest firmware and maps and one year warranty.
Don't worry, everything works fine.

Hi,
I know i'm stating the obvious but have you considered the Garmin unit on sale at Halfords for £ 80. With 3D maps, photo quality, bluetooth and free updates. I know you probably want the luxury of a built-in system but could have better quality sat nav and save over £ 2700 !
