no scirocco for me :(
jus came home work to see a letter on the floor , it was from VW and it said that due to popular demand i will not be getting my car as soon as i would have liked ( was supposed to be have in 3 days ) and they not sure how long its going to take to deliver
# GUTTED
at least they gave me a "good will gesture" of £50 worth of vouchers

It's better than a poke in the eye
Hopefully won't be too long a wait for you though.

Re: no scirocco for me :(
I ordered in March 2011 and picked it up end of July 2011. I received the letter and voucher late June but i had already been given a confirmed build date. My dealer was very good at keeping me updated on the status.abains1 wrote:how long did you end up waiting for yours cuprabob ?

Re: no scirocco for me :(
I cannot understand how disorganised VW are with deliveries - due to popular demand is a pretty poor excuse for a company that should have a sophisticated ordering/scheduling/production system - a car takes a set amount of time to build, and they know how many orders they've received prior to yours, so on the day you order it they should be able to tell you whether it's 7 days or 7 months.
And to be honest a £40 or £50 in vouchers is pretty poor compensation that verges on the insulting - something like a free upgrade on wheels or some other spec would be nearer the mark. When there was a threat of my Alfa being late (due to a dealer problem not manufacturer) - Alfa UK stepped in and came back with a phone call the next day to say the car had just been loaded on the train and would be supplied to me through the Mazda dealer that was part of the same group of dealers - action speaks a lot louder than paltry 'compensation' offers.
The Astra I had previous to the Scirocco was delayed 7 days due to a problem at the docks, but the dealer would not hear of me not having a car on the date agreed and delivered their demonstrator for me use - albeit not quite the same model, with a full tank of fuel by way of apology.
I think VW could learn an awful lot from Vauxhall and Alfa Romeo in how to look after its customers.

There's another factor in this . The ships are full but more calling in Portugal to go to other markets like Singapore/HK/Japan/China. Plus these two engine types are maybe prioritised elsewhere in Europe ........ We've been here before back in 2009/2010. 170PS was one of them, the other was the 160PS. Dealers promising 12 weeks, reality being more like 18 - 20 weeks. (Haven't forgotten the R and 6+ months but that was a specials batch by batch allocation problem).
Hope £50 is the first installment ..........
