First Service

Post by simon99 »

Hi All,

Had my scirocco for almost 5 months now and 8710 miles already. I thought that the first service was at 10000 miles but the MFD is showing 700 to go till the first service.

Does anyone know why this is?

Ive got the 3 year service plan from VW so the first 3 should be free with them anyway but just wondered why the MFD was showing slightly earier

The service interval on the MFD is set to 15,000km which converts to 9,320 miles hence why it comes up early. I just take mine is as close to 10k miles as possible.

Brilliant. Thanks. Is there a way to set this to miles for the future or will it always be set to Km

There's no way of changing it, it calculates in kilometres and it is then converted to be displayed in miles.

The service interval is 15,000km, it's VW UK that round it up to 10k miles for convenience.

Just wait, in a few hundred miles it'll start beeping at you everytime you start the car

If the constant reminder bleeping is a problem simply reset the computer and rely on the mileage reading. Seems to me this is just a way of decreasing the service interval to make a few quid on more services during the cars lifetime as if you abide by the service computer you will pay for 11 services over 100k mls rather than 10; it may not seem much but it could end up costing you an extra £2-300.

My MFD says that my first service should be on 30.000 km (20.000 remaining at the moment) . so should i go in at 15 or 30?

Thanks.

When you first get the car they should ask if you if you want the short or long service intervals which are 1 year/15k or 2 years/30k.

The MFD just reflects the one that was chosen. If they didn't ask you then it'll just be on the factory default.

As you have the DSG box, I'd go for 1 year/15k.
