That's rubbish. Touch up paint would look crap. I would go back personally.

You can get the touch up paints in any VW dealers parts dept - it will be a set of 2 small brush bottles, one for the Pewter, and one for the clear lacquer top coat, I think they're about £5.50.

Unless you're very skilled and have all the extra kit for paint finishing (very fine rubbing pads, polishes etc), i'd get them to put their work right, it'll never look right with a touch up pen unless you're a professional.

Did they charge you the full £318/£330 factory fitted price for the parking sensors that they've retrofitted? Those retro kits are very cheap to buy, and should take around 1.5 hours labour to fit. If they've charged you more than about £180 for it then you've been ripped off. My local VW dealer is doing a retrofit special of £155 at the moment.

Sore point, I'd paid full factory price for the sensors since they were meant to be factory fit. Not having the visual display was a pain, but not sufficient to reject the car.
The problem is that I really don't have the inclination to chase them forever back and forth in order to sort out things which they might actually make worse. (I don't drive to work, so each dealer visit is a quite a pain an ends up costing me money). They way the sensor has been painted over, I'm fairly confident even with my lack of skill, I could make it look better :fall:
I've definitely fallen into the category of person who will just try fix any minor issues myself rather than the cost and time of going to the dealer several times!

I'd be ringing the dealer up as a prospective retro fit customer and seeing what the price is for your set up. I'd then be going back to the dealer and demanding the difference - you've paid full whack for the real thing when you have a cheaper product that is almost as functional, but not worth the full £330 paid.

As for painting up the sensors, i'd really get them to do it - you have to go to a dealers to get the touch-up paint anyways. They shouldn't be able to fob you off with an inferior job that they've misled you with and charged over the odds for. I'd be asking them also for a goodwill gestue to cover your time and costs going to and from their place to resolve the issue - or i'd fire off a letter to VW UK, with photos of the unsatisfactory paint finish, and telling them how you paid full VW list price for an option that you took in good faith as being factory fit.

I would also go back to the dealer and demand some money back.
I paid £200 for a retrofit from a VW dealer although you can get it much cheaper from independants.

I actuallt rather the positioning of your parking sensors to where they are supposed to go they are ore descreet however if they didn't work as well then i can see your point

you can normally get touh up pens at halfords, as long as pewter grey has been used before on other models otherwise they might not have made a touch up pen for that colour yet
My car is now for sale, for just £16,000, fair price so please no silly offers :)
