Thule roof bars
Hi Dave, sorry for not seeing this earlier. I noticed that they stopped making this kit, but I used it for three years (now have a golf) without issue - including a road trip to Ireland fully laden with surfboards. Absolutely no issues. I didn't use it for MBs, but the forces that I imagine a 10' lo...

Re: Iron-x and Chrome tailpipe question
Hadn't cleaned my pipes for over two years. I used a little bit of brasso and a bit of wire wool from the kitchen (I'm sure the missus won't notice!) and it's as good as new

How much should I put it up for?
I'm wondering the same... Mine's an '09 2.0 TSi with 36k on the clock. We buy any car have quoted £9790. Auto Trader suggest an asking price of £11,250. So that means I can expect to get around £10,500 for it?

Re: knocking noise at biting point...flywheel issue?
Mine does this too '09 2.0Tsi with 33k. I assumed the clutch was on its way out and figured I'd ignore it until it went!
It's been like it for the past 4/5k and hasn't got any worse. I notice it less in "sport" mode though...

I have the lights on the auto position and the button never moves. I found it a bit odd at first, but 2 years on and I find other cars odd that don't have their lights on

Is this a bargain price? Is it local to you?
If there are other options then the best thing is to walk away. The old adage "if it seems to good to be true..."
90k on a petrol of only 4 years old is very high mileage in my opinion, and this is bound to lead to mechanical wear issues.

Re: Iphone link to RNS 510
There was a firmware update that you downloaded onto USB and then plugged in. I still have some issues with it once in a while, but the update did help. The worst thing I found was the iPhone interference. I now just have an old iPod touch plugged in (since I don't have an adapter for the iPhone5) a...

Thanks for this.
When you say push, do you mean literally? Also, what exactly is a dogtooth engagement plate?
I thought I was quite good at this kind of thing, but I guess I've gotten way out of practice since the days of my old split screen van!

Auto trader now do a recommended price for free on their website. Otherwise it's a case of going to as many dealers as possible and playing then off one another. Swansea and Cardiff were £1k different and are both part of the same group when I was looking at p/x.

Rear-left brake sticking
As the title says, my rear left brake is sticking. Does anyone know if there's a DIY job I can do in it, or do I need to take it to the thievers?
Thanks in advance!

I was initially disappointed with the BBC set up - especially when they give the result on the news by way of a banner before they show the race!
However, the highlight version does make the race seem more exciting

Scared of your Roc?
I've had my car for a year now, and I love it. It's due for its first MOT in a couple of months and has 25k on the clock. It's in absolutely pristine condition, not a mark, scuff or ding. This is what worries me. Every day I expect the inevitable. I hate parking it and coming back to see that someon...

Air vent noise
Turns out it was a leaking brake servo - new part on order, car is staying in over night and it'll be fixed under warranty. I just called in to Sinclair Vw Swansea and they looked at it there and then.

Air vent noise
It's not coming from my air vents. It's coming from the brake pedal. The pedal hisses when it is depressed. Is this a leak in the braking system, or is it normal?!

Air vent noise
I'll give that a go. What I don't get is that it's not speed dependant. It switches off, or slows, when the brake is applied, which makes me think it's powered. Or am I just not controlling the airflow correctly by pressing off? It's an '09 2.0tsi

Air vent noise
I've noticed a sound coming from the air vents. It's a whistle/air flow sound. At first I thought it was just the air con, but it's still there even of I turn the air con/ fan off. The noise quietens when the brake pedal is depressed.
Any ideas what the sound is?

Standard GT ground clearance
I don't think the ground clearance is that big - I always cringe going over speed bumps! I do think the space in the wheel arch is stupid though.
