Re: Repairing a damaged bumper

Interesting. Were you happy with the job ? I have a suspicion that that kind of money isn't too far away from getting VW to replace the bumper itself. I would think you're looking at twice that at least, possibly nearer a thousand to replace a scirocco rear bumper. My wife had her Yaris rear bumper...

Re: New Engine Question

Hey ! At least Inchcape have a Plan B :D My Plan B is to change the car before the warranty expires. Too many people reporting problems with the 1.4 160 for my liking. But that's the nature of the internet isn't it - people report problems, they don't report that everything is fine so you end...

Re: Which Tyres are the best?

I got myself a set of Michelin pilot sport 3. They are amazing!! No loss of traction when putting your foot down. And the car stays stuck to the road in corners. Would reccomend. The only problem I have now is that my car goes to the left when the wheel is straight? I had my car 4 wheel aligned so ...

That makes 2 "pretty Cocker Spaniel" owners on the forum then, perhaps we should ask for our own sub forum :D

Re: Strange rear tyre wear?..

Hi all, had my Rocco about 10 months (58 plate) No clue as to it's tyre history, but when I got it the rears looked almost new and the fronts had a decent amount of meat on them. The fronts now are due for replacing, but the rears have worn more on the inside than outer to the tune of 4mm inside / ...

Must be a Barnsley Thing!

I've had my Roc since March 2010 and not having access to Vagcom left the DRL's activated. never had a problem until twice this week while travelling in the deepest darkest depths of Wombwell (near Barnsley) on different days oncoming vehicles flashing me and 2 geriatric male drivers pointing and ge...

Re: TSI 1.4 Average MPG - is 31 MPG low?

Quick update as I've been to Norfolk this weekend (very flatland:)) Completed 370 miles at 45.75mpg full tank to full tank so quite chuffed with that as there was a fair bit of running around while we were in North Norfolk as well.

Re: TSI 1.4 Average MPG - is 31 MPG low?

To be accurate about your fuel consumption you need to keep accurate records of mileage and also fill up to the top each time you visit the garage. Just going off your fuel computer isn't really an accurate way of computing your fuel consumption and no car I have ever owned has had an accurate fuel ...

Re: Crashed My Roc!

hi guys i really appreciate the comments and yes it will be my fault as had an email from insurance! and according to the repairers £5300 worth of damage!! still none the wiser on the outcome of my car! General rule of thumb for write offs is over 60ish% of the cars value. My wife had a Fiesta writ...

Why Don't Service Departments Listen?

My car had it's first servicethis morning. When I booked it in I asked for it not to be washed and for the wheels to be rotated front to rear which I also asked for when I took it in. I waited for it and when it was returned it had been washed and not vacced and the wheels hadn't been rotated :grump...

Re: Alloy Wheel Corrosion

I have some of the black speckling (bottom Photo) on mine and put it down to tar marks which I intend to clean off when I get chance. I'll be taking a closer look tomorrow now. Personally I wouldn't want the wheels repaired unless they were prepared to take the tyres off and do them properly like th...

Glad that didn't happen to me when I picked mine up as it was 200 miles away! :)

TBH that's a rubbish excuse. What's his excuse for not getting off his backside and visiting the nearest DVLA office to do it manually?

Re: Nitrogen in tyres

If you ever buy tyres from Quidco (UK) they fill tyres with Nitrogen. It does have benefits as it is less susceptible to pressure change with changes of temperature and doesen't absorb moisture as easily. I believe racing teams use it as well but whether there's any benefit for the normal daily driv...

Re: Another 1.4 Misfiring

The diagnosis is a misfire on no 4 cylinder. The remedy is to change the coil pack on no 4 cylinder. The misfire was detected on the software and was the only incidence. It's now booked in for a new coil pack on Tuesday so we'll just take it from there for now and hope there's no recurrence.

Re: Another 1.4 Misfiring

Having re read your reply my misfire occurred around 5 minutes into my journey when the temp needle was rising. The second misfire occurrence (in 4th gear) was just before it reached full operating temp so may not be the same issue as above.
