Which Oil?

I have now done 6000 miles in my Roc and it needs its first oil 'top up' - the 'oil' section of the Scirocco manual gives VW codes for the type of oil I should use, but I just want to go to Halfords to get a bottle (and not line the dealers pockets with a big mark up.) When I picked up the car it wa...

Essential Options?

Got mine a couple of weeks back - went through the same thoughts as you and found the posts on this forum v helpful when I was placing my order & deciding on options. So here are my two cents on a few of them: Leather - cloth is better than most, but the leather makes the look and feel of the ca...

WTF Can you believe this!

I would be seriously pi*sed if that happened to me - if you like your music (and by ordering it in the first place I assume you do) for the price it is one of the best oem audio options out there IMHO - and doing aftermarket is probably not that feasible on a lease car, unless you put the standard s...

Allocations

Just a thought that a lot of new members come on here because they are considering buying a Roc and would like to know more. They will find plenty of posts about delays and long lead times - most UK customers (even if all goes well) are looking at 16 weeks from order to delivery (which most people c...

Re: Need quick advice, Leather or Cloth

The 'big 3' options are all way overpriced IMO (RNS510, Xenons and especially Leather) and if you are worried about residuals - don't bother with any of them (however much anyone says about their 'desirability' on the second hand market,) at best you will be talking a couple of hundred retained over...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Ordered 19th December and have just heard that I have a build week of 12 - so if all goes to plan, it looks like it will be a total 16 week wait. I think I must have been lucky with my dealer, who were up-front with their allocation situation (they had one,) have kept me updated, responded quickly t...

Re: Whats the Best or Worst Courtesy Car youve ever had?

Worst - Chevrolet Spark, when I recently had to take car to dealer for some checks and all BMW courtesy cars were apparently booked out..........utter rubbish in almost every way, and with one of the cheapest, tackiest looking interiors I have ever seen on a so-called 'modern' vehicle. Best - a few ...

Re: Climatic vs Climatronic

Cheers for the info guys - some very useful points made. At the moment I probably make more short journeys (I currently only live a few miles from work) and do mainly short local business journeys, with perhaps only 2 drives per week of 1hr+ to go to meetings & leisure etc and probably a monthly...

Re: Climatic vs Climatronic

Thanks for the comments guys, some food for thought there! Looking at the pics the climatronic panel does look better, but agree that it perhaps does not look £430 better (!) Yeah 182, perhaps I should have just gone for the GT spec in the first place! :D Caput's comment about the W45 changes to the...

Climatic vs Climatronic

After promising myself at the start of my new car search that "for once I am going to be sensible, save some cash and select base model & base spec" my recent order for a Scirocco eventually contained over £3500 of extras  .......oh well, couldn't resist! That said, I only se...

Re: Have delivery times improved?

From what I gather from recently placing an order, the delivery times depend not only on demand for the car in general, but also the specification (i.e. engine type / options) and dealer allocations. It seems that at various times since the Scirocco was introduced, VW have had 'supply shortages' of ...

VW marketing campaigns

I ordered a Scirocco about a week ago :) and like a kid at Christmas, I am currently lapping up any bit of info to make the wait a bit more bareable! Looking through a few recent car magazines, I noticed that in the last couple of months, (here in the UK at least) VW have been advertising the Sciroc...

Re: Factory handsfree kit

Nice one mick, will tick the option box! Was just thinking, would the same apply to the DAB radio option, or is this also a box which sits elsewhere in the car?

Factory handsfree kit

Hi all - Just a quick question! I am looking at buying a Roc & ordering a factory fitted hands-free phone kit so I can make calls on my iPhone......but is this functionaliy fitted into the radio head unit? I was thinking about eventually upgrading to a built-in sat nav (a second user one to save...

UK purchase and delivery

Hi - I am a recent forum member, hoping for some advice on buying! I test drove a few cars last weekend (Audi, BMW, Alfa, VW) and decided on a Scirocco - I have been mulling over spec over the last couple of days - 1.4 (160) in Candy White, 18" Interlagos, Dynaudio, DAB, multi-function wheel, w...
