Re: My new GT 170ps
what a shame, Anyone thinking of buying a TDI 170 with a manual box must drive one from cold. I wish someone had warned me, it totally spoils a lovely car .

Re: My new GT 170ps
I have the same spec as you. My first mod would be a redesigned gear box. Changing into second gear when it is cold is terrible and I hear this from so many VW owners. how is your gear change ?

Yes, I guessed you would be surprised. However, I am English, live in England and travel to Pforzheim. I will be in the CCP on Fri- and Sat the 8th and 9th of Feb-, ie/ next week. I think you will enjoy the cars we have been designing so please visit the exhibition and ask for me, Prof- John Sweeney.

Re: Viper Green 1.4 TSI 90kW BMT from Finland
This weak syncro on 2nd gear totally spoils my car also. It has been like this since delivery from new. I have a friend who works in a VW garage who told me this is an unfortunate characteristic with the car and that is why they push you to buy DSG but, do not say anything about the manual box weakn...

Can I ask you where you bought the Cree Led reversing bulbs ? Sorry but I can not find them and you are right, the standard lights are a joke.

What is syncromesh like in second gear in the morning when it is cold ? Mine is rubbish and spoils the pleasure of changing gear. John.

Re: Indium Grey with IROC grill surround.
Thank you for your comment about the grill surround. Prior to the forum posting I have only receieved good comments even with the controversial badge, so that has been a little unexpected but I do take on board why it is perceieved in a negative way.

Re: Indium Grey with IROC grill surround.
The standard badge is too big for me, so I replaced it with a smaller VW badge. However, there are 3 location points pressed into the badge recess which are visible just outside outer edge of the smaller badge, so I covered them with a vac- formed plastic ring that was painted Indium Grey. The final...

Re: Indium Grey with IROC grill surround.
I understand what you are saying and clearly you are are interpreting it as a historic GTI. This is not my intention what so ever to try and project this. The badge is a contemporary abbreviation of GTTDI nothing more, it is not trying to pretend anything else. I would appreciate you looking at it a...

Indium Grey with IROC grill surround.
In 2006 the Scirocco was presented at the Geneva Motor Show at the IROC Concept. One of the most distinctive features was the Silver Grill surround . Sadly, this did not go into production because it was perceived by marketing as being too similar to Audi and so it was changed to the profile we have...

Re: Night time photoshoot
Hi Rob, the car looks great, I live in Newcastle and have an Indium Grey with the same spec as yours. My gear change into 2nd when it is cold in the mornings is just rubbish it scores 3/10 and spoils the car. Is yours the same? Thanks John.

Re: Poor Gear Change.
I have to say, that this subject of crap 2nd gear change when cold, seems to be a common VW characteristic from comments I have received from so many people since this discussion opened. My main reason for not buying DSG was, as a long term vision of ownership, I have heard of so many issues of probl...

Re: Poor Gear Change.
Hi RW1, yes I agree with all you have said but the thought of of some young apprentice pulling my new car to pieces and perhaps the fault being in the replacement gearbox also is such a gamble. Guess I will just have to live with it, but thank you for your excellent reply. John.

Re: Poor Gear Change.
Thanks for that. However, if a linkage was incorrectly set, there would be a problem on every change. This is not the case,It is terrible on first changes each morning. When it reaches normal temperature it is ok but not excellent. Thanks again, John.
