Re: 1.4 tsi could be axed
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/254741/ Wonder if there's any truth in the above rumour. Having had the engine for over 18 months, I admire the technology and enjoy the power delivery but it's not exactly been reliable for me.........new cylinder head gasket, 2 software updates, i...

Re: Engine Problem
Hi Gio,
Yes the engine was changed, but same hp. I have the 1.4 with the supercharge/turbocharge combo 118kw TSI model, sorry for the confusion.
I must check out if I have had the 5859 upgrade, as there is a definite a flat spot at low speed/revs.

Re: How long before the roc looks dated on the roads?
There is already a number of other car companies producing very similar looking cars to the roc, others in development, that's just the way of the world. So my opinion is that the exclusivity will soon be lost, so vw will soon change the shape. Also they want us to purchase the 'lastest model' and p...

Re: Another 1.4 Misfiring
My problem was only resolved with new engine ( after coils, injectors and fuel pump changed) and as I stated no issues as long as I gentle acceleration until engine warmed to 90.

Solution to 1.4 misfiring
Apparently the solution to the 1.4 misfire problem (with exhaust light activation) is to only accelerate gently, while engine is warming up until temp up to 90, then it will run smoothly.

Re: Another 1.4 Misfiring
Set off this afternoon and while engine was still warming up it developed a misfire as I pulled away from traffic lights in 1st gear. It was so slight I thought I may have been mistaken. 2 or 3 minutes later in 4th gear put a bit of throttle on and again detected a slight misfire (just before engin...

Re: tyre pressure
Thanks to all that have replied, looks like 33psi all round (if usually low load-1/2 people) is the way to go, cheers.

tyre pressure
I'm running Germany Dunlops 235/40 R18 95Y on my 1.4 TSI and have had mixed messages about what PSI to inflate to.
Has anyone got any advice/knowledge about this.
Cheers Johno

Re: Engine Problem
Well stated David. it may be that it is isolated to a particular run of engines.....lets hope so! Still even with a replacement 1.4 I'm not feeling confident about them, as once off warrrenty, what then, heaps of hours off the road and heaps of expense. Finding it ironic that it is the ''engine of t...

Hi Johno here, see my discussion Engine Problems. There is a major problem with the 1.4 engines. I am waiting on a new engine, but after reading your posting, I don't feel reassured that this will solve the issue

Re: An unscientific survey – Any Scirocco breakdowns
There is no science to this really, but as we have a collection of Scirocco owners, I thought it may be interesting to find out how many (if any) have ever had theirs breakdown and what the cause was. I'm talking a breakdown due to mechanical issues, not a collision/accident, or something like runn...

Re: Engine Problem
Hi david25, all First, I don't speak German and I had to rely on Google Translate to help me track the issue:-). That said, I didn't see any mentions to decentered pistons. It seems to me that on iroc-forum.de and motor-talk.de the injectors are blamed as the root cause. Basically, the idea is: the...

Hi everyone, I'm a new poster (someone on http://uk-mkivs.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; mentioned this forum after reading about my problems). I've just had a new engine fitted on my GT160 Golf, after it lost power with the EML EPC lights coming on. The problem wasnt...

Re: Engine Problem
NO BACK IN THE SHOP!!!!!!! Starting to get a bit pissed off.......5x back to dealer. They tell me Germany is aware of a problem with the 1.4 engine that is proving difficult to fix, Dealer suggests that I trade into the 2.0l GTI 6 speed engine. I would rather keep with the 1.4 TSI but sick of this!
