Re: hit a kerb :-(
checked it today, and the subframe had shifted backwards (witness marks on the paintwork of chassis leg) I slackened off all the bolts and it sprung back into place, but found the track rod was bent and looking at the camber it looks like its added a degree of camber, so deciding to get damper, hub ...

Re: 1.4 160ps 2011 - anyone had issues?
yeh i bought mine as an ex demo in mar 2010. and will swear i will never buy another ex-demo, as this car must have had a rough 4000 miles, its got a slight engine rattle when starting from cold, but also ive found ive replaced the plugs at 20K because i think its too much to ask from them to last a...

roof gutters that dont soak you when you drive off slightly with the window open, glass that doesnt drop when you dissarm (the TT only does it when you pull the handle) heavier accelerator pedal, as there is still not a retro fix for cruise control 2 years later, bespoke dash, and mk5 golf inspired ...

Re: 1.4 160ps 2011 - anyone had issues?
yep, vw said they couldnt find anything wrong with the missfire, I decided to replace the plugs at 20K anyway and it had improved things slightly, but although its a mechanical marvel of an engine im getting rid of mine ASAP as judging by all the things that have broken on it (gearbox, clutch, windo...

roc going
Finally the straw thats broke the camels back comes with a broken gearbox,
Im not sad to see it go and wished my experience with the little coupe was as memorable as with the TT, although it was but for the wrong reasons.
Thanks for this forum and good luck

The Roc is going, never been right from day one, full of squeaks, rattles and poor build quality, after faulty electrics a clutch noise and judder, a clunk that the dealers think is normal and now and engine buzzing a suspension squeek that they cannot hear Ive had enough of this motor, after 23 yea...

Re: sports exhaust
Your right RW1 and its taken the shine of a beautiful looking car, I really need to test drive another 1.4 160 to listen out for this gearbox noise, is there anyone around the northwest / warrington /chester that has one just to sit in the passenger seat and check it out.

Re: sports exhaust
hi again, how are you finding your little 1.4 160? Im getting a little worried with some of the stories about the engines being weak, mine is an ex-demo (4k miles) when i got it, its already had a new clutch, broken exhaust flexy, pass window, ecu update, wiper stalk, tailgate rattle and has still g...

Re: sports exhaust
Ive managed to obtain a ABT quad oulet back box for a MK5 golf, I had to open up the bend a little with a little heat and cut an exact match for the other side, but other than that it sounds fantastic, improves mid range torque and has a very slight pop when you change gear quickly. Exhaust only cos...

vwmerc, what was wrong with your old engine? I have a 1.4 160 and dont really like it, in fact the 1.4 122 felt nicer to drive.

Re: 1.4 tsi twincharger turbo pull
just remember there is enough torque very low down and very high up in the rev range, but not really much in the middle so you have to be careful if you have to pull out in 6th to overtake which strangly it will drive ok from 50mph to 110mph in six gear, if you drop it a gear lower than you think yo...

Re: 1.4 tsi twincharger turbo pull
if you have the car remapped it feels so much better, you still retain the initial pull as the supercharger works but at about 4,500 it pulls better like a turbo should do rather than a boring flat torque curve where you have to rev it to get anywhere. fuel ecomomy hasnt changed much still getting 4...

Re: Tyre profile advice
I have 235/35/19 on the front and 245/35/19 on the rear, and this falls nicely between the 2.5% change, in fact it feels better as i find the rear crashes over bumps as it always feels light compared to the front.
