1.4 TSI - Catalytic Light/Miss Fire Diagnosis -Advice Please

I was taking my 1.4 TSi to the dealer for a service and on the way the catalytic converter warning light came on (started blinking when stationary at some lights, then went solid. Some minor judder, miss fire at the lights but then seemed normal running). I thought it may be the common coilpick issu...

1.4 TSI 160PS - 4th year service advice

Having finished a three year service plan last year (that I took out when buying my scirocco in sept 2010), I now have my fourth service coming up at end of August. MOT as well. I believe it is an interval service required plus air con, is this right? Having searched the forum a bit I have read a fe...

Re: quick (Lazy) question regaridng petrol

To support the other comments from 1.4 owners I've got around 4k on the clock now and my 'lifetime' average mpg is showing as 36mpg Long motorway journeys it can get into the mid to high 40's, but this depends on a lot of things like traffic, any inclines, passener & cargo etc. Typical daily dri...

Re: Grinding rear brakes?

Resurrecting this thread after a quick search as I am now getting the same issue after only 4,000 miles on the clock.

It's very noticeable when coming to a halt/when braking at low speeds.

Going to try some heavy braking, but we'll see what happens.

Anyone else had this on their car recently?

Re: Question on coolant top up

Topping up the small quantity of neat G12++ will be OK. I'm actually running at 50%/50% and that was the dealer after replacing the thermostat last January. They can take it to 60%/40% - G12++/water in the engine for protection to -40'C. The effect is the engine runs slightly warmer but in your cas...

Re: Question on coolant top up

The difference you are going to put in is negiable. The strength of the mix is 40%/60% - G12++/water from the factory for the UK. ie. down to -25'C. So you will be taking it towards -20'C. ( 50%/50% will take it to -35'C.) The way you measure the correct level is - cold is above the min. level mark...

Question on coolant top up

I've noticed today that my coolant is on the minimum level The car is new from September and I did note at the time it was below the mid point between min & max, so it has not dropped significantly I was planning to just top up to mid point with some distilled water for now, as the mix ratio sho...

Re: More Options Ordered...

Folding mirrors for circa £100 are worth it IMO. Pity they are not operated by the key fob/locking the doors, but still a nice lazy way to have some peace of mind when leaving the car parked. Bonus: in conjunction with parking sensors, gets you the tilting passenger mirror when reversing and also pu...

Re: New Scirocco, +questions

I've done about 1500 miles now Lifetime average MPG is reading as 36.4 I do a mix of motorway and urban. Typically 35MPG average on trips. Expect to average in the 20’s when doing lots of urban driving (in traffic etc.). On the flipside, long motorway trips should average in the 40's I once just hit...

Winter - anyone have a car cover – recommendations?

I am debating whether to get a car cover (either for the whole car, or one that covers the windows) I had my first bad experience of the cold weather this morning with the door windows being frozen shut and taking ages to clear. Lots of de-icer and some warm water was required and then the windows g...

Re: Cars you have owned before getting a Rocco??

Ha, my pathetic list in comparison 1. A 95 Ford Fiesta 1.1 in metallic blue – great little runner. The first time I went up an inclining A road, I thought the engine was failing :p Reluctantly sold after someone (anonymous) reversed into the front wing and the cost to fix wasn’t worth it 2. Another new 60 plate - 1.4TSI Rising Blue

Collected on 1st September! Good turnaround really as ordered on 14th June and was delivered to the dealer mid August An excellent service from the dealer I used (had no issues from order through to collection) and the handover covered pretty much everything in the SciroccoCentral checklist! So far,...

If on collection day the Scirocco is the wrong spec built…

Out of interest, if you arrived on collection day to find your car was not the spec on your order form, what position does that leave you? If it was something like wrong wheels, I’d presume you just request they get changed (either before signing/paying or with written agreement it will happen later...
