Re: Eibach Pro-kit vs Eibach Sportline
Always had good experiences with Eibach with BMW but when I was researching for my Roc i found most went with H&R as they just seemed to work better for this particular car.

Well done - great fix. I’m sure as the cars are getting older this is going to help other users.

Re: Facelift scirocco fog light removal
I’m not entirely sure that’s what he means.
On mine (it’s a pre facelift) there is a little access panel that you pull off that exposes the screws to remove. Does yours have this?

Re: Boost gauge working correctly?
Sadly this forum isn’t as active as it once was. I’m not sure of the exact figures for your model but On idle 1 bar sounds about right, I would expect 2 - 3 bar on acceleration. You could check live data to see how accurate it is but I’d assume the gauge is a guide rather than an exact measurement. I...

Re: Rear Brake discs/Pads
I did mine for mot this year, I went for brembo all round. Parts cost me less than £180 (But that was using staff discount) brakes feel much better than they did before but I don’t know what brand was previously fitted. Brembo are obviously excellent, but if they aren’t for you, Delphi, Bosch or pag...

Re: Glow plug light and engine light issue!
There is a possibility it could be to do with the pipes you have taped up. The turbo actuator is controlled by vacuum, as are the brakes, although the vacuum only provides braking assistance (hence they work better when you are driving) any loss in vacuum pressure is likely to cause performance issu...

Re: 2010 1.4 tsi non starter
Just because the battery has been recharged doesn’t necessarily make it ok. If the battery is completely dead it may not charge. In addition to this it may also make jump starting hard. If you are 100% sure the battery is okay, if it’s not even turning over the next step would be to check the starte...

Try the link below. It was something I really wanted to do but could never find a reason to convince the Mrs to allow it, (the map was only done to increase MPG so we wouldn’t have to use as much fuel

Re: Cambelt and waterpump
It’s the same with most main dealer prices. They will most likely for things like that be substantially more expensive. £560 for a VW specialist sounds reasonable to me, you could probably find a local garage who would do it for a little less, however the specialist is likely to have more experience...

I’m not sure if the person who was trying to gain access to theirs ever did, or they just sorted it and didn’t post on here. From what I can see on mine as above to take glove box out and physically look at the switch, unless you are a contortionist and can get your hand around far enough through th...

Re: Limp Mode - Boost Pressure Query
Glow plug light flashing acts as an engine management light so if it does flash you need to scan the car.
Hopefully the new part will resolve your issue.

Re: Gearbox swap
Assuming the gearbox is compatible, you’d need the cable linkage bracket to fit the replacement gearbox.
I’m not sure your troubles will end there though. Is there a reason why you changed it? I’m assuming they will most likely have different ratios as well.

P0299 usually points towards a vacuum leak. Check for and splits / holes in the vacuum pipes.

Re: Scirocco GTS Modifications
Repaired it… was a salvage with quite heavy front end damage.
Fortunately there was zero chassis damage.
Have also put brembo discs and pads all round because it needed brakes for MOT and I could justify spending the extra bit as I used my staff discount to buy them!

Re: Battery opinions
Batteries tend to fail a lot quicker if they are discharged more frequently, particularly in colder weather / climates and short journeys. I have a Van that is not used frequently and I keep a solar charger and it keeps it charged when not in use. It was only around £20 - £30 and the van always star...
