Re: Reversing sensor anomaly
It's still showing the feedback in that odd way. The service is due soon, so was just going to leave it till them. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the sensor casing on the bumper and it hasn't took a hit.

Reversing sensor anomaly
Has anyone encountered this sort of screen image before? There was an obstruction was foliage running the whole width of the rear of the car, though all of it appeared at equal distance. I can see how foliage could scatter the feedback and hence the image on the screen, though it's never been an iss...

Re: How much to respray and polish a bumper?
I suspect a respray may be required to be blended over the entire bumber area. From experience, a bodyshop is likely to charge you just shy of two-hundred quid including VAT.

Selling
The time has come to hawk the motor but I'm a bit lost on a few things. I hope you guys can offering some advice about the technicalities of selling a nearly new car privately. 1) The car has outstanding finance, how do I assure the buyer that the finance will be paid off? Two cheques if the price i...

Electric window noise
Perhaps I've just been too smitten with the motor until now but recently I've become overly obsessed with the noise the electric window mechanism makes. I've been driving a few other cars lately, new and old and noticed that their electric window's raise and lower almost silently compared with mine....

Re: Sat-Nav all but the last two postcodes.
This feature is becoming quite cumbersome for me. Basically, you need to know the whole address as you'll need to choose from a list of streets and street numbers even after you've entered in the first four digits of the postcode. This becomes problematic if your destination is a business with a &qu...

Re: What not to do...
So I managed to get in after a five hour wait for a second RAC man. It turns out he had a sort of slimjim key but it wasn't supplied by the RAC, it was his own purchase, and he hadn't used it before. With the advice of a locksmith (outside whose shop I had conveniently locked myself out) he was able...

Re: What not to do...
Maisbitt, you're right about having both keys in the car. I've been working abroad and travelling around a lot in the past month, with the car. I was packing up this morning to drive to Scotland from London and at was just one of those pinch points where my spare keys were in my bags and I totally f...

...lock BOTH sets of keys in your car. Yup, being a complete moron I managed to do just that. I called up VW Assistance (the RAC) who promptly sent someone out. Frustratingly, the guy couldn't do much for me, he was very wary to attempt to put his long metal rod through the hole in the frameless win...

Re: Headlamp deflectors
I eventually applied the deflectors, albeit mere seconds before driving off the ferry at Calais. They fell off days later but after a month of driving around the continent, no one flashed me so I don't suppose it's all that much of a concern.

Re: RCD510 brightness
It is annoying having the lights on in the unit whilst driving at night. If I've got the music on at night I tend to make sure it's set to "dimmest" setting, ideally it would automatically switch off, the backlight that is, not the music.

Re: Servicing Costs
This is the first service of a new car I've ever had, didn't haggle for it to be included in the deal, didn't haggle for a thing, was too bedazzled at the time to be honest. My service included an interior valet, £40 of oil, replenished screen wash and an additional bottle as well. I was impressed t...

Two weeks to change a reg over? You should've visited your VRO, they make it official immediately, reprint your tax disc and arrange a new V5 for you.

Servicing Costs
For most of us, the next few months will bring out the first servicing. Had mine done this morning but I was surprised at the cost differences: I checked around a few VW service centres and ended up going to a familiar place which also happened to be the cheapest at £100 all in. Just why would other...

Are these things necessary for the scirocco, I can't seem to work out the whys and whatnots surrounding the need for headlight deflectors. I'm travelling onto the continent soon and want to be prepared. If they are necessary, does anyone have any experience with finding the right place on the headla...

Re: How do you pronounce it?
Clearly I'm the only one here pronouncing it the way I do: si-RO-koh, with the "si" sound identical to the "si" in "sit" rather than the alternatives here, which frankly sound bizarre to me, "see" as in "(take a..) seat".

Re: Radical solution to wiper problem
I think, ZephyR, the solution being mentioned requires a complete removal of said wiper and then not much else. Can't have a smear without a wiper.
