Pretty much any DCC damper is going to be that kind of money unless it's used unfortunately.
Also unfortunately the rears are sided (the fronts aren't)

Interestingly theres a whole thread about this happening just after a timing belt change on Briskoda.
From what i've read no one has got to the bottom of it, but it seems a fairly common occurrence.
Fortunately most just seem to fit a new sensor and all is well.

Pop the side panels off the dash (where the fuse box is), there's a small wire going to a grey plug. The grey bit is the sensor, it twists 1/4 turn then pulls down. Not sure if this is the same on all versions of heating/air-con, but there's one either side on my car which has dual zone climatronic....
