The great Rear Seat problem - A solution!
DSCF4649.JPG Dear all, Like many of you on here I have long suffered the problem of the left rear seat refusing to fold and found no online solution to this. I have tried much fiddling and the use of screwdrivers to poke the mechanism to temporarily fold the seat. Finally out of patience with it I ...

Re: The dreaded Limp Mode!
Roy - A very belated update! I did indeed manage to dismantle the turbo in situ (this saves a lot of work!) and it was heavily coked up despite the very low mileage. I can only put this down to very few long drives and lots of cold starts to simply move the car a few feet each time in and out of my ...

Re: The dreaded Limp Mode!
Finally some progress! I have managed to remove the actuator and find it is fully working : Gives 4.0 volts at 0 vacuum and gives down to 0.4 volts at 20 ins vacuum with a full range of movement. The turbo lever is very stiff suggesteting a coked up turbo despite the low mileage! Looks like I need t...

Re: The dreaded Limp Mode!
Thanks for the info. I have that Service Manual but not seen that youtube video. A bit more work this morning revelealed that the actuator rod begins to move at 11 ins vacuum (and not 3-5 as it should) and stops moving at 21 ins vacuum and not the correct 18" so that seems to add to the low vol...

Re: The dreaded Limp Mode!
Thanks for the comments. Will look further into this and post what I find as it may help others. I wondered if some wastegates had a lower voltage than 4 volts but nothing seems to indicate that in all I have read. The engine is the 2.0 tdi 170 bhp CBBB model) It can only be a stuck or failed sensor...

Re: The dreaded Limp Mode!
Well two years later I am still suffering the same limp mode, but not as often. During that time I have replaced MAF twice, cleaned N75 and then later replaced with new N75. Done all vacuum checks several times and made lots of checks with VCDS but never yet found a faulty component or out of range ...

Scirocco - ? Relay 109
I have had intermittent starting problems for months now. The car from cold starts either first time or turns over and fails to start with an "ESP fault" displayed. I was suspecting this to be the diesel draining back in my earlier post on this but now suspect it to be the infamous "R...

Re: difficult starting after standing for several days
Sorry just read this now as have some domestic repairs over the last few days! The car runs excellently once started and will start first time every time if used daily - the problem only comes when stood for several days. I think your manual is far newer than mine so thanks for that but I cant see a...

Re: difficult starting after standing for several days
On further thinking I feel the attachment I posted is probably just part of the N75 turbo "Moo" valve but maybe not! Also is there a direct two direction path between the high pressure side of the fuel system and the low pressure side as if not then could this pressure retention valve allo...

Re: difficult starting after standing for several days
Thanks for that info. I didn't find such a diagram in the Scirocco Workshop manual but will look again. Now that I know what I am looking for I will have a better look under the bonnet. I found the attached item on Google under Scirocco pressure control valve but not sure if it is the same item as i...

Re: Fuel filter valve leaking.
Do they have a fuel filter valve? - or do you mean the filter itself?
Mine just has the filter with 4 pipes on the top each coupled to a flexible pipe. Let me know a bit more and I will see if I can help.

Re: difficult starting after standing for several days
Thanks for the reply. Would the retention valve you mention cause the diesel to drain back to the tank? The primary pump seems to work fine as even if it has stood for days the pump after a few repeated attempted starts gets the fuel back up and the car starts and runs fine after that. The battery i...

difficult starting after standing for several days
I have noticed of late that if my car ( 2.0TDI 170) stands for more than few days it takes numerous cranking attempts to start. Once started its fine and starts first time every time. I am figuring diesel drain back on standing and thought I once read there was a non return valve in the fuel line th...

Re: Bluetooth nightmares
Progress at last but then a sticking point!!! Managed to get a harness to connect my bluetooth module to the RNS510 and then through Vagcom I was able to roughly configure the setup. Module now finds my phone, phone connects but module just keeps trying and trying to connect and fails. Very occasion...

Re: Bluetooth nightmares
Thanks for the suggestion. Isn't that an expensive solution to simply enable Bluetooth on a system I am otherwise quite happy with? - or is there something I am missing here? (got to admit I am getting too old for all the latest gizmos I think!)

Bluetooth nightmares
In my recent post I was asking if having the armrest 6CD changer lost the MFI connector outlet - and although no one answered I have indeed now found that to be the case. I was asking this to see if an alternative for Bluetooth would be using the MFI socket! The car (2010 170TDI) has the RNS 510 hea...

AMI/MDI socket and 6 CD unit
My 2010 Scirocco 170 TDI is fitted with the integral CD changer under the armrest. I bought the car from a dealer at 6 months old and it had been the company accountants car so had many of the additional extras added from new. Although when I bought the car it had an AMI phone cable lying under the ...
