Re: What an expensive car....
Thanks guys for your interesting responses to what was a spare of the moment thought. From the replies several things are obvious...there are knobs everywhere and many of them drive Scirocco R's. This thread is now about arrogance and is quite frankly amusing. Yellow spiders comment makes him/her th...

Re: What an expensive car....
Guys,
Another two pointless posts....what a surprise.
You clearly haven't read my post as I did not suggest that I wanted to part with my R.
GTI...leasing a car does not mean that you cannot afford it nor does it imply that the owner is stuck with it.

Re: What an expensive car....
Guys, At no point did I suggest that I cannot afford to own or run an R. I was only noting how expensive it is to do just that. Most of the replies certainly have an aura of arrogance, "O me and my performance car & my 50% tax bracket''. If you consider yourself a performance car then I thi...

Re: What an expensive car....
It depends really but in 6 weeks ive covered almost 1500 miles and each year I'd guess about 10k.
Please don't calculate my yearly petrol cost for that will just make me cry.

What an expensive car....
Hi guys, I've had my R DSG for about 6 weeks and if someone asked me to summarise my feelings in two words i'd have to say 'bloody expensive'. The cost of petrol is spiralling out of control (80pw) and please don't mention the future need for insurance or servicing! In short, its a good car but cert...

Engine oil for Scirocco R
Hi guys,
I have tried searching the net and several forums but have no found a particular reference to the Scirocco R.
Can some please give me an idea of what oil I should be using.
Thanks.
Stephen

Re: Is my R DSG slow?
Blue...I can see why your confused.
I am referring to my next car in 2014 when I'm accustomed to the 'performance' car and a little older and more sensible.

Re: Is my R DSG slow?
Yeah Chunster, I think a GT would have been just the right step up from a 140bhp civic. Infact I was close to ordering a GTI DSG but I was greedy and didn't see the point in not getting an R because it would have always been better than 'my GTI' and I would have always wanted for an R. I'm happy wit...

Re: Is my R DSG slow?
Hi guys, I've been driving the R DSG for a month now and I've covered just over 1k. At first I was a little disappointed with the power of the car but after learning how to use the DSG and paddle shift I now think that the car is actually too fast for every day use. I like to fire up the motorway bu...

Re: SWAPPED MY GT TDI FOR AN R!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy days, It does drink fuel and its not because you drove it hard! I've had the car for 24 days and i've spend £230 on fuel. If i'd have know that I think I would have went for a GTI. A well, its worth it as I drive up and down the roads each day and never see a car that I'd prefer to be driving....

Re: SWAPPED MY GT TDI FOR AN R!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy days... I'm sure you won't regret your decision. My RB R DSG is fantastic....you need to shift down manually if you need instant urgency otherwise the DSG will make you wait, a wait that is long enough to frustrate you! I pay about too much for my R and I have to admit I feel a little guilty s...

Re: Is my R DSG slow?
Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice. I think that my issue is with the DSG box and I'm still learning how to drive the box and the car together. I'm so used to revving to the red line in each gear with my previous manual cars and I have been a bit more careful with this car...its new and its in a differe...

Is my R DSG slow?
Hi guys, I'm looking for some re-assurance. I've driven my R DSG about 300 miles and the car is fantastic but I expected it to be faster. I'm running smoothly on 98RON and I have noticed that if I floor the car it takes a few seconds to take off. I have tried to shift down with the paddles into a lo...

Re: how much mpg you get?
Hi folks I've just taken delivery of my R DSG and its a machine but my fuel economy is poor. A 60 quid top up off bp ultimate at 138p pulled me about 225 miles (4 days of driving!). When I'm running about town the consumption can fall to 10-14mpg but a quick push of the throttle makes it all worth i...

Leasing hand-over and GAP insurance - I need advice
Hi guys, This is my first time leasing a car and indeed from an English company so I have a few questions... 1. What handover options are available...especially when not collecting the car from the dealer. Is the car driven or lifted to customer. Please share any experience and advice. 2. What type ...

Re: Have delivery times improved?
I've I were you I would look elsewhere as the information regarding delivery is vague and is always subject to change. Whatever your quoted when you order you should ignore and add about 12 weeks. I would be amazed if you were happy with the entire process from order to delivery as its been an awful...

Why, o why is the R forum so quiet?
Hi guys, Although the central forum is fantastic I have been disappointed by the activity levels within the R forum. The last interesting post was a few days ago and I sometimes wonder if theres something very, very exciting happening on the mainland that I'm missing, although I doubt it. Tonight, I...

Why are the rear lights not LED....?
Hi guys...
I haven't taken delivery of my R yet but I have been wishing for some design changes that would do the Scirocco R a favour...
1. Golf R rear lights on Scriocco R.
2. 4WD Scirocco R
Has anyone else any further changes or spotted any annoying omissions...
Keep er lit.

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)
Legs... I'd hang in there...I ordered a R DSG on 10/06/10 and I also had several possible build dates put back and I voiced my desire to cancel on several occasions with no change in VW's complacency. The build date was only forthcoming when I took delivery of the VW hire car and within a week or tw...
