Ebay would by my choice here. Second hand unit should be cheap enough, and easy to find in good condition. Swapping over is a case of popping the old one out with two keys, disconnecting the two connectors and swapping the units over. Reckon it'll take you less than 2 minutes with the proper removal...

Order an RCD330G plus or R340G from AliExpress. Genuine VW unit, with all the bells and whistles. £160 or thereabouts.
