Re: Noob question, R line badge
I should clarify, this was on a second hand purchase, rather than a brand new order when the dealer told me that.

Re: Noob question, R line badge
Not sure, but the fellow at the dealership did say removing the 'R' badge was a bit of a fiddle when I enquired about the deletion.

Re: Manual Vs DSG Question
But I also wouldn't like to run one much when it's outside of warranty. There's a thread on PH about a fellow who upgraded it with software and it went bang, was facing a 10K bill to sort it (and then threw his toys out when Audi wouldn't repair it for free, despite being out of warranty and tuned. ...

2016 R - 4 months in
So I touched on this in the DSG thread but here it is again, plus other thoughts: Ok, so after a few months (and ~3K miles) ... I love the DSG in the R. Heaps better than I thought it would be, and when I get back in my old Golf R32 (for sale btw :) ) having to use a gear lever seems archaic. Haha, ...

Have seen this in my computer, suspected they'd try and charge an arm and a leg for it.

Re: New to DSG.
Realistically, I don't think VW would spend the money on the electronics (and more importantly the code, as such adaption is very complicated) to allow the DSG to adapt to your driving style. Simply doesn't make any financial sense or benefit. It only will adapt to itself, for example, for wear, whi...

DSG in manual - push forward to change up (1-2-3-4-5-6) and pull down to change down (6-5-4-3-2-1). At least it is in mine. That seemed intuitive for me immediately. Don't all man seq boxes do this?

Re: New to DSG.
I'm pretty sure that it doesn't adapt. It adapts to itself for wear, but essentially as that post on vortex suggests, it will do things based on its inputs. Adaption implies them putting a memory chip in there and additional code to deal with it. Strikes me as a needless expense: Occam's Razor. Anyw...

Re: New personal lease Scirocco R coming late Feb/ early Mar
I think you will enjoy it. Did you go for a DSG? I'm just getting into mine. DSG requires a bit more planning ahead if you're in the man seq mode than you may be used with a manual!

New to DSG.
So, having driven manual cars mostly, DSG is a totally new experience for me. Only had the car 3 days, less than 200 miles. I'd seen around that the gearbox adapts to your driving style - that sounded like a bit of horseshit rumour to me, so in true internet echo-chamber fashion, I went looking for ...

Thinking about a 2 channel one. I've always been rubbish at this kind of thing, usually breaking something along the way.

How might you hard wire a dash cam?
I had a quick feel along the headliner this morning, and it seems as if it's quite tight in there - not at all easy to poke a wire into.
Has anyone done this or knows of a reputable company to do this?
Cheers!

Yeh, the Mk IVs when breathed on handle like they on rails!
I am, however, getting a bit older and the ride was becoming too harsh. I want a bit more 'waft' in my life. Lol.

Re: R MPG
Ive only had mine 2 days. I got 31.5 on an A road, trundling along at NSL this morning. It's seems to be averaging around 28.8 at the moment, but as I say. Early days yet. Also, as a point of pedantry, they are 280 PS ( a german engine power term). To get the 'BHP' figure (in itself a kind of made u...

Re: Soooooo. Torque Steer
You are correct - AWD instead of permanent 4WD (a la Subaru). I never got around to upgrading the Haldex, as by the time I was thinking about it, I don't think you could get hold the v2 of it easily where you could adjust the factory power transfer boundaries. Heard good things about the upgrade tho...
