Rear main seal replacement cost?

Hey all, Any know roughly how much it would cost to have the rear main seal replaced on my 2009 2.0tsi? Cars misfiring across all cylinders and is particularly bad when cold. Its been sat at a dealership for 5 weeks and they cant work out whats wrong with it. So far its had new pcv valve, coils, plu...

Re: Fuel injector extended warranty ?

We'll all four injectors have been replaced and the idle doesn't drift anymore but it still misfires like hell when cold. They noticed a pretty major carb build up which is no surprise and are going to quote me on that. The price will probably br insane as its at a main dealership but as im offshore...

Re: Fuel injector extended warranty ?

It doesn't apply to the UK. It's different in the US because it's a much tougher market and much more litigious. In summary, they don't do it in Europe because they don't have to as we keep buying the cars regardless. The best you can hope is that you can get some "goodwill" via VW Custom...

Fuel injector extended warranty ?

Hello all My car is currently about to have all four injectors replaced at a cost of £1100 at the dealership. Ive done a lot of searching on the issue and found that VW of america extended the warranty of 2.0 tsi(between 2008-2011)engine to 120,000 miles or ten years when it comes to fuel injectors ...

Re: Valve timing issue.

Currently offshore and its still with the dealership. They are replacing all of the fuel injectors tomorrow after doing a manual shaft timing check and that came out fine so that's one less thing to worry about. So yeah all new fuel injectors and hopefully that will be the end of it as its taken far...

Re: Valve timing issue.

So I picked up the car and its still as bad as ever. The rep said they changed the pcv valve and it didn't change anything as they had hoped it would. He suggested that they would probably have to replace all the fuel injectors as they found a significant amount of fuel in the oil sump. They drained...

Re: Rear wheel arch area access from inside

I have a ding on the other side of the fuel cap from you. A previous owner hit a railing going up a multi story. I would also be interested to know if you can get behind the panel from the wheel arch etc to push the dent out.

Re: Valve timing issue.

How much did they charge for the carbon clean up ? At 90k I would guess the carbon build up is pretty gnarly by now in mine.

Re: Valve timing issue.

After VW finally got round to looking at it yesterday they also concluded that its the pcv valve and are replacing it for a total of £217.00. Didnt think the price was to bad considering it included the diagnostic, new part and a least an hours labour. Asked for them to MOT it at the same time as it...

Re: Valve timing issue.

Just an update. After MUCH google foo I think the actual issue is the PCV valve as my car suffers from all the symptoms of it being stuck open such as the lumpy idle and revs moving about on their own. Also using a lot of oil and engine running lean as the pcv valve is allowing a lot more air to be ...

Re: Valve timing issue.

The garage has finally decided its probably a stretched chain and that they wouldn't touch it as they haven't changed one on that engine before and didn't want to use my car as an experiment. Which is fair enough I guess and they only charged me "a couple of drinks". Drove straight to (but...

Re: Valve timing issue.

Yeah its still driveable just has the miss fire issue so it runs lumpy as hell. It gets significantly better once its warmed up by the idle revs fluctuate a fair bit. Cars got 92,000 miles on the clock and has been well looked after. Don't have he error code yet as im heading to the garage this even...

Valve timing issue.

Hello all. I posted a few days back about an engine misfire and the garage has been looking into the cause for a good while now. They seem to have decided its a valve timing issue. Is it likely the standard timing chain issue ? If so what is the likely hood the the engine has been severely damaged ?...

Re: Engine warning lighting. Running lean.

Changed all four coil packs this morning and its made some improvement I think. Still a visible miss fire when looking at the engine. Going to get it into a garage somewhere tomorrow and see what they think. I'm hoping for spark plugs and not fuel injectors but time will tell.

Re: Engine warning lighting. Running lean.

Maybe doing some shopping tomorrow then. To be honest the cars done 92000 miles so it could probably do with a new set of coils anyway and if that's the first thing a garage is going to do I would rather do it cheaper myself.

No i don't have access to a multimeter annoyingly. Seems like a really easy thing to check and replace myself.

Re: Engine warning lighting. Running lean.

Just an update. Garage seems to think its a coil pack issue but have to wait until Tuesday now to get it looked at. On top of that they think there could be a blockage in the fuel line or pump Exaggerating the problem. Typically this all happens at once and on a bank holiday.

Re: Engine warning lighting. Running lean.

Got it booked in tomorrow morning to have the fuel sensor changed so hopefully that's the end of it. The guy at the garage did say it could be any number of things but that's the likely candidate. Fingers crossed.

Re: Engine warning lighting. Running lean.

Something I've just realised is that revs are not dropping correctly to idle. If I rev it in neutral it drops down to 1400 hangs there for a second drops down to 1000 hangs again and finally drops to about 750-800rpm when it sits really rough. I had it warmed up last night and took it out and held i...

Engine warning lighting. Running lean.

Hey all. Hope someone can help out of point me in the right direction. Driving to work this morning and the engine management light came on. Took it in for a diagnostic and they said the fault code was showing a lack of fuel so i was running lean. They suggested I change my fuel filter which i went ...
