Re: Driver's window re-opening by itself after closing - FIX
That's interesting. Ever since I have owned my Scirocco, since 2016, had similar issues with the windows. Occasionally come back to the car and windows are half down, once they were both completely down (and it was raining - that was fun). Also, frequently, especially in wet weather, the windows wil...

Re: Can non-VW Dealers reset service indicators?
Great - thanks both.
I always thought this was something only the main dealer could do ... it's good to know that this isn't the case as it means the options for having my car serviced has now been increased.

Cheers :-)

Can non-VW Dealers reset service indicators?
Hi all, Thinking about having my, now 6.5 year old Scirocco 1.4 serviced locally rather than at the VW dealer who are many miles away - very inconvenient location and too far for them to collect car from me. Have a trusted local garage - Basic question: can independents reset the service indicators?...

Re: Cars with Compatible Parts
Good topic - always like to see how parts are shared amongst different models. Especially when they are more unique (and not just in every VW - like some of the switchgear).
I believe the seats are the same as those in the Volkswagen CC.

Re: Window malfunction - Door Windows Drop.
Hi there - this isn't quite the answer you are looking for. but my 2014 pre-facelift Scirocco also has a probem with the driver's window. When you try to close it, every now and again, it gets within a few inches of being closed then goes down again / opens (even if you keep you switch in the close ...

RCD330+ upgrading from RNS315
Hi all - I know this has been discussed in various topics before, but looking the answer to some some questions to a potential install which hopefully someone has done before and will help others in my situation... Reason for changing - have used TomTom Go for Apple IOS on my iPhone for years. Many ...

Reasonable Tyre Life?
Just had my front tyres (18" - 1.4 160HP Pirelli C7s) replaced - got about 18,000 Miles out of them - replaced at just under 3mm left - guess I could have got a bit more out of them - last set got about 20,000 miles before replacing. Is this about normal, good or bad for a Scirocco? Can't help ...

Re: 1.4 or 2.0 petrol
The figures I get are just those reported on the dashboard / computer so expect some inaccuracy ! The average figure (figure 2) it reports is currently 41.2 MPG. It usually settles around 40-42 MPG between resets. The time I got 57MPG was an individual 60 Mile journey in perfect conditions (no traff...

Re: 1.4 or 2.0 petrol
Totally - I have a very late build (2014) 160PS twin charger (with DSG). It is odd VW got all the problems fixed on both the 160PS engine and the 7 Speed DSG only to drop them both with the facelift (from later 2014).... still I am glad they did! I love this engine - it is extremely quick (feels fas...

Re: Missing bumpstops
Do you need uprated bumpstops? Just having some at all (standard ones?) will make one heck of difference. If you have no bumpstops I can see why things would be awful - I had a golf many years ago which had new shock absorbers badly fitted - they didn't put the bumpstops back in and it would frequen...

Re: Rear Tyre Wear and Noise
I just couldn’t live with the noise.... I am sure I could have got quite a lot more miles out those rear tyres but as I indend to keep the car for 2-3 more years at least I thought I might as well have the benefit of the new tyres and no noise now rather than later. I went for the same tyres as it h...

Rear Tyre Wear and Noise
Very thankful to the forum's search facility to have read a couple of cases very similar to mine - an intrusive wheel bearing type noise from the rear of the car - especially notable on the motorway. It started to become noticeable when the rear tyres had about 35K miles on them (from new) and not l...

Re: Free Data Plug - Limited offer from VW
I had one handed to me at the last service... It was sort of interesting for a few weeks For whatever reason, probably phone related, the bluetooth connection between the app and the data plug stopped working months ago and in all that time haven't been bothered about reconnecting it - so obviously ...

Oil Change vs Inspection
2014 1.4 TSI 160BHP. I at about 35K miles and the computer is telling me Oil Change in 1K miles or 60 Days... and also Inspection Service in 3K Miles or 90 Days. Every year I seem to have to the same thing - Oil Change every 9K Miles and inspection due very shortly afterwards. Is there something I h...

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 hp increase reliability / life support mods
That looks great - I was always taught that oil consumption is not always a bad thing, but engines which use little or no oil (like yours!) are much more likely to be on good shape. Hope you continue to enjoy your Scirocco. I love mine - its the best all rounder I have owned and can't see me selling...

Re: 1.4 tsi 160 hp increase reliability / life support mods
That's a great question and hopefully there will be some more replies soon. I too have the 160BHP 1.4 (which I bought without knowing anything about the potential issues) but I do consider myself fortunate in that I have 2014 build which should mean the factory revisions have sorted most things out....

Oh - well - looks like I am the only one (at least only one currently viewing this forum!)... with experience of this. Quick update, the warning light disappeared for a week or so - left reversing light working fine, but then came back on again yesterday and stayed on all day. When I got a chance, i...
