Your profile right states 1.4 160PS, would be heheplful its correct.
122PS has a software update for a rattle in that area TPI 2031250/1 - 31/10/12 for an underbody rattle cure. Go quote it at the dealer.

Re: Rattle (exhaust?) while idling (warm)
The misfire did not register in the diagnostics. You could hear the exhaust fluffinng a beat at the tail pipe, and the engine at idle missing a beat slightly or on the motorway cruising at 2,200rpm missing a single fluffed beat, maybe once in an hours journey.

Re: Rattle (exhaust?) while idling (warm)
Put new spark plugs in 6 months ago. What sounded like an exhaust rattle at the rear slowly developed after a couple of months and grew in intensity. Could hear the "rattle" at the rear but the waggling the exhaust tailpipes created no fouling noises. It sounded like a jarring noise on the...

Re: Rear-left brake sticking
Its pretty straight forward. Recomended to push all four calipers as I found one sticking 6 months ago and did the other three to get some more improvement. Been much better since. The fronts are straight push, rear are a turned caliper, so will need a dog tooth engagement plate. When you back the c...

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
Perhaps time to leave in the hands of the dealer to sort. I would be second guessing
I am not at the side of the Scirocco and for that last comments I would want to plug in VCDS.

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
Yes the pulley's for mechanical security. That shimming noise is odd as it sounds like it is slowing down and sounding loose. For the Supercharger Clutch should be speeding up be sharp sounding as the clutch clamps up by activation of the solenoid. The Turbo had crossed my mind today as they can get...

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
Not convinced. The sound is not fast enough and lasts too long for the clutch solenoid operation. What ever it is its revolving much too slow. Its sounds more like something spining loose & free.

You might be able to get at the Compressor from above but it is tight. Better after removing the engine undercover.

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
At first videο the rpms are 1200 :) watch it again. ABove I wrote the noise occurs before the ECU engagement point. And if well past the Supercharger disengaging. The Clutch is immediatley disengaged. That sound does not, it goes down with the revs afterwards which means it is still being driven. T...

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
At the 1st video the sound is 100% the supercharger ! I have hear the same sound at a lot 1.4 tsi with manual gearbox when they parking . In 1.4TSI With DSG you can hear the same sound if you press the accelerator a little more just a tap only in D or R or S( in N or P it does not engage the compre...

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
1st video. Supercharger does not engage at those rpm's. Can't easily tell if initially the Scirocco is stationary. If the noise occurs when stationary in neutral that confirms it its not the water pump Supercharger Clutch as the clutch is not engaged by the Engine ECU in this condition. Similar nois...

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
The RPM range is not a match. The clutch can make the chirp noise anywhere between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm even where just cruising when the engine needs to engage the Supercharger, such as going from level to climbing a gradient without accelerating. You may have another problem. Quite what  If ...

Re: 1.4 TSi 160bhp - magnetic coupling problem
You already have the latest fitted.... 03C 121 004J as it was introduced at MY2012 production start. The replacement will be 03C 121 004JX where "X" indicates a money surcharge for the return of the old part to the Parts Department. Still the same part. Does not apply in your case if still...
