Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Apparently my car was built in Spain. Not going to emden?? Not sure what's going on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My dealer was convinced mine was built in Spain too, but I ignored that as I thought they all came from Portugal. But then when it arrived on a boat from Santander I have no idea w...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Sounds good - the trip from Emden is pretty quick so hope you have some good news soon. They obviously use a variety of different routes (mine went from Portugal to Spain and then came direct from Santander to Sheerness). Off to the dealer to sort out paperwork tomorrow and should be picking it up n...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Looks as though I missed the boat, no stage 5b this morning. I'm getting impatient lol. A week it's been sitting there now watching the ships come and go. Some peoples have been getting on boats a day or two after build, always my luck. Fingers crossed it gets here before summer. :grumpy: I never g...

Re: Any Lawyers On Here?

I read on a news page last night that two weeks ago they admitted to cheating carbon dioxide emissions too. That's gotta affect our cars this side of the. pond too? I read that too - also affects some petrol engines apparently, but sounds like it is 1.4 models with cylinder on demand technology so ...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Mine definitely didn't go to Emden - the dealer told me they used to to QC checks there which now happen in the UK (although I'd need to be convinced). Jon

City of Sunderland

Now confimed in Sheerness by my dealer. Looks like VW may use more than one shipping company - the car came direct from Portugal (via Santander?) on the City of Sunderland, without a stop at Emden en route. So another vessel to keep an eye on! Jon

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Very odd...can't work out from PWL how my car can possibly have left last week and already got to Sheerness (looks like the route goes via Emden?) but VW person quite clear it had arrived! Oh well, will know soon enough...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

It was built at the start of last week (45) and must have got on a boat almost as soon as it was finished.

Cheers,

Jon

Mine must have got on a boat almost as soon as it was built. Spoke to VW today and it has arrived this morning in Sheerness. I'm just a bit excited :)

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Good to hear - I'm also getting the 125 and assume after my 1.2/70BHP Polo it'll feel quite speedy! Even thought it's the slowest Scirocco it will be the fastest car I've owned and looks like a good compromise between pace and economy (at least equal to if not better than the Polo if the figs are to...

Took two weks for me. My build now confirmed as week commencing 2 November and I assume they probably do runs of Scirocco's every few weeks rather than on a continual basis?

Re: Colour Choice - Ultra Violet?

One has passed the test and the other is learning to drive - so going in the Scirocco is soooo not going to happen unless I'm there too!

Re: Colour Choice - Ultra Violet?

I've seen one at the dealer in Bromley in Flash Red and it did look very good. If I hadn't gone for the Night Blue, the red would have been my choice - I was just worried about how much stick I'd get from my kids if I got a flash red Scirocco shortly after my 50th birthday :-) They think I'm sad and...

Re: Colour Choice - Ultra Violet?

johnschick that is a lovely blue - they had one in my local showroom when I ordered mine and it looked very classy. That colour yet again was not available on the R Line either - along with the Red or the Oak. I think all the dark colours will need a lot of keeping clean for the car to look good, U...

Re: Colour Choice - Ultra Violet?

Night Blue for me. I found choosing the colour really difficult.... it's replacing a white Polo and although it looks good I don't particularly want another white car (besides you see a lot of white Scirocco's). I quite like Flash Red but find it just a bit too....flash, at least for the long term a...

Re: Ceramique interior

Decision made (probably!). Flash red GT with black interior and pano roof to lighten things up. Not sure I like the two tone ceramique dash which reminds me of my father in law's old Volvo 240!

Re: Ceramique interior

Interesting thanks - I'm quite tall (6'3") so the panoramic roof looks like quite a good option. Does it impact at all on rear seat headroom as that's already quite tight?

Cheers,

Jon

Ceramique interior

About to place an order for a new GT and wondering about interior colours. The all black finish is the only one I've seen and probably the one I'll end up choosing, but..... it is quite heavy and dark. Anyone seen or got the cermamique alcantara upholstery? Does it look good or does it look cheap an...
