You can update the firmware on earlier units with 2*** firmware to get the new version of POI (Points Of Interest). You need to go up to a 3*** version or higher. Or you can just install the maps on the lower firmwares and not get the use of the POI functionality.

To be honest, I don't really know. I know there are 2 types of Bury kit (which the VW is based on - rebadged), one music and one non music. But I never bothered trying to stream music on mine when I had one fitted in the van.

You might not have the "Music" kit. Some can play music via Bluetooth and other kits can't.

As far as I know, the car needs coding to accept the unit, not the other way round. If you already have one fitted and you;re just swapping over then should'nt need any coding I don't think. If however you're fitting one for the first time then there'll be coding to make it work.

RNS510 is a dvd only method of loading the maps on. The disc isn't usually supplied with the nav unit when you buy the car, and costs about £180 to buy from the dealers. The RNS315 reboots from power off, so once it's been shut down completely following coding changes (turn off, lock the car and leave for all systems to shut down) then next time it starts up it's done a reset. Unlike the RNS510 which needs a manual reset.
