Re: Swirl Marks
Look at Maguires 105 & 205 compounds. They're great to work with and give excellent results.

You'll get used to not having a clutch pedal in a few days. Would not let that put you off.

Re: Swirl Marks
If you use a DA rather than a rotary polisher the likelihood of doing any damage will be dramatically reduced. It will take longer though.
The be fair they're reasonable prices for a two stage correction as it will take several days to do.

Re: 'Superficial scratches'
Can you feel/catch them with your nail?
If you can they aren't going to polish them out. You can make them less visible but they'll always be there unless you paint the panel.

Re: Wheel refurb tomorrow ...
I'd go standard.
From experience black and white always looks dirty. Black also shows every mark inc stone chips, washing swirls etc. Anything dark isn't gonna look good in my mind as the car is quite dark.
A hyper silver with extra metallic might look good.

As above. That big black thing with the VW logo and UFI logo is the fuel filter. Near impossible to change it without spilling some.

Re: Custom Number plate with pic
Normal width (as it looks silly otherwise) and I went for 2/3rd height but it was too small. I should have measured but it was raining the day I ordered it and I couldn't be bothered going out and measuring in the rain. I believe it was 520mm x 74mm but 520mm x 80mm would have been a better fit size...

You can get an air filer from a motor factors for about £5! Are dealers overpriced, yes. But if home servicing a car no point on shipping out cheap easy to do bits.

Re: Scirocco is gone... New car
Nice car, wrong color. Enjoy! Definitely the right colour. Blue is done to death on these, and besides I prefer red. Oryx white all the way if I had one :cool2: Just changed from a white Scirocco so really wanted a change from white but Oryx is a great colour. To be fair they're all great courage o...

Re: Impact of self service
I'm guessing by the time you trade it in it will have over 100k on the clocks so a self service (with receipts to back everything up) is unlikely to hurt the price much. As you say you plan on keeping it a few more years it will fundamentally be a 10 yr old car with 100,000 miles on it. Most car of ...

Re: Rocco has to go !
I got rid of my derv Scirocco a few weeks back for a Mk7 Golf. Though my brief foray with derv meant that I'll never have another derv again. No idea why so many people choose them unless doing starship miles. My new Golf is a R! Was also reading that VW plans to stop making diesel engines under 2.0...

Scirocco is gone... New car
So as some on here know I've been driving the Scirocco for the past two years. While this has been a reliable and good looking vehicle see (pic below) it's never really excited me like other cars I've owned, i'm blaming this on the fact it's a derv. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/Paddy_R/IMG-...

Re: **VW emissions affected roccos **
Is it possible with a future repro to change again this scenario? Not quite sure what you're asking here but if you mean if you get the VW 'fix' can you remap it out then yes you can. Should in theory be as simple as just getting a remap from your trusted remap company (Revo etc) to remove VWs fix....

Re: Black spots all over car??
The autoglym stuff is pretty good but its expensive. Assuming you've washed your car before hand and it's clear bar the tar then petrol on a microfiber will remove the tar spots for a fraction of the cost of a dedicated target remover (1 litre of petrol £1.20 'v' 500ml of tar remover from Halfords £...

Most of the dirt on car at the moment is actually salt. Even my local petrol station jet wash does a great job of removing it.

My reply would be this: how is your car running now? Is it going well? If so why mess with it. Do you really need a free pen and mug that badly?youngyy wrote:Has anyone with a 170 had it done yet? How's it run after the update? Mines a 60reg 170 DSG and received the letter today
