My performance seems to have improved a bit as the car feels more eager so the lower mpg has not been too much of an issue, more a curiosity really. Maybe VW have updated the ECU on our cars and could this be a version of beta software for the supposed cheat fix??

No the timing Belt is due to be replaced at the next Service. The car with its previous owner was on an 18k extended mileage service schedule which makes me wonder if some filters or parts may of need replacing sooner than this schedule dictated.

Not 100% sure but if you don't take it in there may be repercussions with insurance and resale value etc.

If your car is affected by the VW defeat device it may not be worth remapped until your car have been through the recall, as VW could potentially update your ECU or replace it all together. There could also be other changes that may effect your mapping as VW have been very vague on how this fix will...

Will VW be able to reduce the NOX emissions of the cars affected by the software cheat without reducing the performance. I doubt it.

For a month after the service was done the weather was warmer and did notice the improved performance as soon as I drove the car away from the dealer on the day.

Just a query if anyone can help? Put my 2.0 TDI GT170 Scirocco in for a major service at a VW dealer a couple of months ago at 55k. Since having the service my fuel economy has dropped about 4 MPG but the car does feel more responsive. not really complaining but is this normal and has anyone encount...

TDI 170 DSG unmodified, Commute to work around 15 miles, 2 thirds town and country roads and 1 third motorway. Average 38 to 42 mpg!
