Yes I guess it's worth checking that, it's definitely not just more road noise as its an inconsistent whirring, every half second or so. I have booked it in for a £60 full tracking at my local VW so hopefully that will solve the problem. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, Would appreciate any help, I have just lowered my Scirocco with Eibach springs, looks and drives much better - very happy. However, there is a rumble at low speeds coming from the rear of the car, it sounds very much like a wheel bearing noise, but there was no such noise prior to lowering...
