Re: Air Con Noisy
My Scirocco has just celebrated its 7th birthday (64K miles). The AC has started sounding noisy, particularly at low speeds. Its sounds like the compressor is working at full load with a whirring sound which rises and falls with the engine revs. The AC itself is working fine and is cooler than ever...

Re: Air Con Noisy
My previous Roc was doing that noise - the up and down whirry sound at low speeds - and I was scared it was the compressor dying and megabucks for a new one. Without telling them about the noise issue I just asked VW for an aircon service. Noise gone, problem solved. If I'd said "the aircon's ...

TSI Camshaft Drive Chain Failures
Last week I met a man who told me about his 09 Reg Golf with a 2 litre TSI engine which has 51K miles and was currently in the garage after a failed camshaft chain for which he is expecting a bill for £3.5K. He noticed my 10 reg Scirocco which has a similar engine (TSI 1.4 litre 160HP & 48K mile...

Re: Catalytic Converter Warning Light
Just to follow this up. I took the car in to the VW garage on Tuesday. They identified a fault on the N 80 Solenoid valve intake manifold. The valve was replaced and the fault has cleared. Total cost £194.45. Excellent service from my local VW dealer who took my car in immediately and let me have a ...

Re: Catalytic Converter Warning Light
Many thanks for your advice. It has also occurred to me that I have just moved house and have been filling up with supermarket petrol for the last month rather than alternating with Shell as before. I will put in a tankful of V Power and see what happens. I tried V Power when the car was new but did...

Catalytic Converter Warning Light
This light has just come on on my 2010 TSI160 with 38K miles. This is the first problem I've had with it in over four years. So far it is the best car I've had (and I had many company cars before I retired including Audi and BMW) Anyway I checked the internet and read some posts on here. I purchased...
