TMG kevlar clutch pack for DSG7 and daily driving?
So after 19k miles I'm consistently getting a slight skip in 1st gear and occasionally a judder in 2nd gear when the gearbox is well warmed up. This is probably overkill, but I really want smooth gear changes and a peace of mind for years to come. Is this kevlar clutch suitable for normal city drivi...

Well, the R version is gone from the German Konfigurator. Is it gone for good? Sport, GTS and "SOUND" are still available.

Re: DSG decision
After 15,000 miles its now showing signs of juddering in 2nd gear again. It will no doubt go another 15,000 miles but by then it probably will be juddering too often to be tolerable. Only solution for me is to shell out £1000 and fit a Kevlar clutch from a Greek performance company (TMG Performance...

Re: Is there going to be a Scirocco replacement?
I was hoping a new Scirocco was in the pipleline, but it looks like the AutoEuropa plant in Portugal is going to start producing the T-Roc instead: http://observador.pt/2016/11/15/t-roc-novo-suv-da-wv-sera-fabricado-na-autoeuropa/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Which is act...

Re: need help , stage 1 clutch for scirocco 1.4 tsi 160 hp
Is it necessary to get the toolkit for the TMG clutch pack assuming VW would do the replacing? That's an extra cost.

Re: I've got a bad feeling about this....
I'd like to see a final special edition, even if it's just trim and badges / stickers. Then I guess I wouldn't be bothered, if they came out with a new model after all. In fact, given my experiences with the 1.4 TSI and DSG7, I know I'm looking for drivetrain reliability first and foremost, so I'd b...

Re: Funny Noise DSG moving slowly in 1st Gear
Try switching to S-mode the next time you notice it. See if that helps. If it does, then it could be a mild case of the typical DSG judder, although you should have the revised clutch pack.

Re: 180 bhp not enough?
I think you're confusing bhp with PS. The GTI is 220 PS and 230 PS with performance pack added, while a Scirocco GTS is only 220 PS. The real question is, why isn't the GTS version available? For example, in Turkey they still offered a facelifted Scirocco with the 160 PS Twincharger engine until rec...

Re: Sounds like a tractor on start up?
When it does actually do the cat preheating on a true cold (winter) start it doesn't misfire and burble like crazy like it does with the above conditions. Personally, I haven't noticed a difference (and I'm very familiar with it, because I have a habit of sitting through all of them from start to f...

Re: Sounds like a tractor on start up?
Oh well, another annoyance to live with then. So anticlimactic when you get in and it starts like a tractor :D I park my car in a deep underground garage where the temperature is just above 19 C during summer and just below 19 C during winter. It doesn't make that noise when I start it from there. H...

Re: Sounds like a tractor on start up?
A sound like the first one is one not to worry about as it doesn't do any harm (other than making the horrible noise). If it is the first one you will find it happens more frequently in the winter (colder weather). It will also happen more as you get closer to your annual oil change. Have you thoug...

Re: DSG 7 Speed failure survey
My 2010 1.4 TSI 160 HP with about 14k miles judders occasionally between 1st and 2nd gear, that is, not during every trip and it only makes a noise (no vibrations as far as I can tell). I was going to look into replacing the clutch pack this summer, but I've changed my mind (I thought it was going t...

Re: Paranoid
I've actually googled how to deal with this a while ago and found a couple of funny stories: 1. There was one person whose dad would fill up a shiny new pickup truck with gravel on his first trip out of the dealer to get it over with as quickly as possible and to be able use the car as it's supposed...

DSG judder explanations (7 speed DQ200)
We all know about the issues with the dry clutch DSG gearbox. Every 20k km they need to be replaced because of juddering / shuddering issues. But the common explanations never made much sense to me: 1. Worn clutch plate Why does the juddering only happen on low RPM then? It doesn't feel like a slipp...

Re: Cheapest Castrol Edge FST 5W - 30
I'm confused, how many litres do I need for the 1.4 TSI 160 engine? Is it 4 litres? And 5 litres is when you want an extra 1 litre in the bottle to top-off later? EDIT: Looks like the oil capacity is 3.6 litres for this engine, so 4 litres should be more than enough. http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk...

How close did you pressure wash it before? Do you ever try to remove dirt from just a few cm away?

1.4 TSI twincharger rattle
At most a few times a year I get this noise on start up (I only drive < 5k miles per year) Does it cause damage to the engine every time it happens (even if so rarely)?
