OK... so I decided that I couldnt wait for the weekend so I have done some more investigation! The wire has the dc adaptor at one end and the other end goes into the back of the fuse box... no sign of a mic but it must be a handsfree kit! Nothing left in the back of the head unit so ive just left it...

Thanks for the responses, it does look to me like a hands free kit of someone sort so this weekend I'm going to take the radio out and see if I can find the wires. There is no FISCON menu on the MDF so I assume if it was, the rest of the kit has been removed... I'll keep you up dated!
