Re: Do new cars generally have crap mpg? (2.0Tdi 184)
I've done around 8000 miles in mine since October and mpg is improving since birth but not as good as I expected. Maybe that's because I drive it like I'm 17 again... I get around 35-40 on my daily commute which is 11 miles of 50:50 stop/start hell and steady 50mph roads in traffic so hardly long en...

Re: Dash camera
No worries. Turns out you need the colour code on the end too (82V). They are <£2. Yeah I've caught some crazy drivers on mine and a couple of close shaves and I've only had it in for around 5000 miles. Including one who'd spun and parked on a bush in the side of the road, a lorry who'd taken out ro...

Re: Dash camera
Interior light is easy enough - see the bluetooth installation thread. I wouldnt take off the pillar if I were you. I'd tuck the wires down the side Yeah if you're happy with tucking the wires down I'd do that, getting the a pillar off was a right pain in the ass. I had to remove the small airbag c...

Re: Dash camera
Is there not a strap attachment that goes through thhe plastic holder that the suction mount screws into on these? If there is can you not use that to attach to the rear view mirror mount? Not having to use the auction mount would not half tidy it up a lot. I've got a mini0803 fitted to mine and if...

Re: Dash camera
Here you are. The add-a-fuse is in the top row 2nd from left. It was previously empty (facelift) and is switched. I have a 3a fuse in there and the small black box half hanging off where I knocked the tape is a 5V 3a step down module with two USB ports earthed to the chassis you can see top right wr...

Re: Dash camera
I used an empty slot top row (I think second from) left of the fuse box which is switched with ignition. I'll grab a photo tomorrow for you. If you can get a hold of a voltmeter it's pretty easy to find out.

Re: Dash camera
Yeah I'll just be removing my add-a-fuse when it goes in for any work, just to be sure. As long as you're not directly messing with the fuse box who's to know?
Do you have to turn the go pro on/off manually? Or will it on/off when charging?

Re: Dash camera
I also have done pretty much exactly as above in my facelift with the mobius, except it just ran it from the a pillar along the roof lining where it joins with the windscreen and poked it in with a bit of soft plastic and it comes out neatly hidden behind the rain sensor tubing. Take care when remov...

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
I'm using a Microfiber Madness Incredimitt and so far, only had 6 washes with a stint in the washing machine at 40 each time and it seems to come out good as new. Worth the premium so far. Wish I could say the same for the Chemical Guys Wooly Mammoth towel, that thing has left an impressive trail of...

Re: Snow foam!
Yeah it's well deserved. I've not tried any other products, but I don't think I'll bother with these results. This was purely from a jetwash rinse followed by a snow foam with BH AF after a week (I hate winter...) and around 500 miles on the roads. The foam doesn't cling to the car for very long but...

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Spot of DIY on the coin box. Hearing the coins I keep in there (shh...don't tell) sliding around every time I took a corner got a bit annoying. Not bad for 80p for some sticky back felt from hobbycraft and half an hour with some scissors. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f158/ThereIsAHoleInMyBucket...

Re: Snow foam!
Another to throw into the mix is Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, I've been using it for short while and it seems pretty effective. Seemed to be another highly rated SF. I've not used any others previously so I can't vouch for how well it stands up against the others. It doesn't seem to hang around (by design...

I have a feeling I'm going to appreciate getting back in the scirocco even more now. I get a whole different kind of stare from other drivers in the tank.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Unfortunately I've been subjected to one of these while mime is at vw getting a couple of scrapes to the drivers door sill repaired that wasn't spotted in the PDI (or caused by the dealer) and a rattle that's recently appeared.

Re: New facelift order
I noticed that DrivetheDeal offers £5000 off (including this £1500 deposit), that's 15-18% off depending on spec. How is the new 184PS diesel? I only had one diesel before, Mercedes OM651 engine, 204PS but I hated the noise. However I liked the range hence the thought of getting Scirocco diesel. Th...

Re: Facelift 1.4tsi in Urano Grey
Looks awesome Greyscale! Love the colour (I chickened out of the grey).
I found the speedo strange too with the markings around the outer backlit edge - took some getting used to. Hopefully I'll get my hands on VCDS at some point and enable the large MPH display in the MFD (amongst other things).

Re: New facelift order
Mine was just over 11 weeks for the 184 TDI, others ordered before me and are receiving them later so it varies depending on spec and production run grouping. 3 months is probably a reasonable estimate. It's 18 months, I just did it myself and withdrew (don't settle) from the agreement paying off in...
