Re: New Tyres needed

Andy, I think what robmx was referring to was changing the size of the tyres, not the make of them.

Re: New Tyres needed

I'm no expert I'm afraid but when mine need changing I'll either stay with the P Zero's that mine has or might opt for a good directional although there's not much choice in that market. Given the amout of water we drive through I'm a huge fan of directional tyres. I'd certainly not skimp though. No...

Re: New Tyres needed

Lower numbers mean smaller tyres. This is the width in mm. I had Avon ZZ3's on the back of a Passat a while back and did not rate them. Seemed grippy enough but had a very strange initial oversteer when entering a bend before everthing stabalised. Very odd feeling. I also thought the rolling resista...

New Viper Green 2L TSI Available for Immediate Delivery

Took a trip to White Rose Petersfield today to have them sort out why my iPod is not charging. They have in the showroom a new Viper Green 2.0L TSI GT in stock. It definitely has leather and seat warmers and I think it had the RNS system too. Downside is that it's a 2009 model with the 2009 steering...

Re: Tailgate rattle/clunk

Here's how I did mine.... 1. Loosen allen bolt and pull stops almost all the way out 2. Very gently close boot, don't slam you are trying to get the boot to push the stops back in to roughly the right place. 3. Open boot and pull stops out by 2-3 clicks, then tighten allen bolts. 4. Go for a drive t...

Re: Does the shark fin contain a GPS?

My understanding is that it is the GPS antena, however if you did NOT specify the RNS510 when the car was ordered the sharks fin aerial is a dummy and has no function other that to look good!

Others may know more though as I picked this up from a previous thread somewhere

Re: Saving settings etc?

As regards the coming home lights, turn off engine, remove keys, flash lights by pulling indicator stalk back. Lights will then turn on when you lock the car.

Other stuff dunno

Re: Clutch pedal vibration

I'd say it's normal. I feel the engine vibration through the pedal when pressed slightly and it goes as you depress further. Don't notice it when changing gear though, just when my foot it resting on the clutch when in neutral. I'm amazed they changed all that if what you are seeing is the same as me.

I thought I'd be opening a can of worms with that one

Doesn't the same logic mean that you might as well sit indoors and play driving games rather than taking the Scirocco out for a spin! Think of all that fuel you'd save.

Re: Over heating 170 TDI

Hi Peter VW

My point is that regen (I beleive) requires the engine to be ON, if it's off then the DPF cylce ain't happening!

Re: Anyone go to a David Lloyd gym?

Maybe I'm in the minority but I just don't get Gym's Rowing machines: Wouldn't it be more fun to get a boat? Running machines: Wouldn't it be more fun to go for a run? As for trainers, if I want to enter the Olympics maybe that would be useful but if I wanted to loose a bit of lard (and I should) do...

Re: Over heating 170 TDI

Apologies for butting in on this thread, but did not Peter W say in the original message that this happens "when I leave the car". I assume from this that the engine is at that point switched off so there will be no regen going on. If there's no regen and the fan is on, surely the thermost...

Re: Over heating 170 TDI

Hi Peter VW,

I totally get what you're saying and it does not sound right. Your diagnosis of a faulty therostat I recon is on the button and it should be checked out. If the fan is running it should be pumping bloody hot water through the rad so a cold rad and fan running spells trouble.

Hi Robmx,

The 510 does have bass / middle / treble adjustment. Just touch the (small) button somewhere top right of the screen.

Re: Taking Home Delivery (of my car) Advice

If you've a decent camera I'd use it, and from every angle. I think mine got delivered with a scuff to the n/s wing mirror which I never noticed till I cleaned the car and then had no way of proving it was already there. Also if you've a form to sign saying "no damage" I'd insert the word ...

Write to them immediately and state that you are not accepting the car.

Then just wait for their response. It's not up to you to make offers to them!
