I got my GTi two weeks ago... as much as I loved my Scirocco the GTi really is a step above.

You are really going to enjoy it.

If you just want Bluetooth you can get a Fiscon unit which is pretty much plug and play with your radio.

If you want Satnav you will need a RNS510 but it's not necessarily cheap. on eBay they go for about 400 pounds

Both options will work with the steering wheel.

It was a Raylite from Battery Centre in Randburg. It was R1500 versus R2500 from the dealer.

Just for interest the battery in my Scirocco lasted just over 3 years and that was using the car everyday.

The MDI firmware update will only resolve problems with the MDI connection. For the Bluetooth streaming you will need to look at updating the Bluetooth module. Connections to devices (Like an iPhone,iPod etc) might be fixed with a firmware update on the MDI module not the RCD510. The firmware updates are done using the USB MDI cable and a memory stick and the My-GTI site has the firmware.

Check the AUX input level. The option is under Setup -> Media -> AUX input level
Mine was set to Level 3 and the sound quality was terrible. Changed it to Level 1 and there was a massive improvement. I think I am on Level 2 now and the quality is CD

I assume you have a RCD510. Then Press the Setup button -> Media -> Activate AUX input

I seem to recall that if you have to enable the Aux in option in the settings on your radio. Then the Aux In option should appear at the top of the screen when you are in the Media mode.

You can always fold the mirrors if you have to.

If memory serves you need to enable the Aux in in one of the settings menus on the radio. btw the RCD-510 does not always come with the Media In. In the UK the Media In is standard with the RCD-510 on the Scirrocco but in South Africa the RCD-510 is an option but it does not include the Media In. Yo...

Go with the Fiscon. Intergrates completely with the RCD510 and is really easy to install. Works 100% with an iPhone.
