You're looking around £300 to have the tensioner replaced, how much is it to extend the warranty??

Re: How many chain tensioner failures on here?

I would not worry about it, these failures are still mercifully rare. There does not seem to be any direct correlation between mileage and failures, but the few I have read about, are high mileage. As ever you could get a failure with a lower mileage example, but I repeat again, this is very rare, ...

Re: Sudden Failure - Timing Chain + Tensioner replacement

Once the timing has gone off once, does it flag up on VCDS?! Since things will be out of sync? I am very wary and cautious of "common problems" nowadays, and this has done nothing to help me. Just had the ol' clutch moo/squeal/shout/moan sorted out on my car, the last thing I want to find...

Re: Sudden Failure - Timing Chain + Tensioner replacement

The parts cost around £40, plus approx 4 hours, I would expect the job to cost no more then £300 at an indi.

Here a link of when I did mine last year :-)

Re: Sudden Failure - Timing Chain + Tensioner replacement

Yeah I know what you mean, when you go looking for a problem on the internet, you open a whole can of worms... I do have a history of bad luck with cars, so I now try to as cautious as possible, sometimes maybe to the point where I get too scared to buy anything! I guess it's just a risk you take w...

Re: DSG whine

Mine does this and always has, I've driven allot of DSG cars, some whine and others don't, it's quite well known within the vw scene. Not sure the reasons behind this as I haven't had one apart yet.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/674/A9LtGi.jpg 3 performance options are only octane options, the octane options set the boost and timing and fuel to pre set values, you can't customise it. Re: Second hand sps switch

On the 2.0tsi the revo sps switch only has 4 settings, stock, 93 octane, 99 octane and 100 octane. The 4 maps are already loaded onto the ECU once mapped, the SPS switch just selects the pre installed map. If you buy a used sps, you just need to down load the settings from the revo website and insta...

Re: What engine

Hi, I am new to this board and have a question, in the course of 2015 I will be looking to buy a second hand Scirocco. I have a configuration in mind that I want but I really can't decide between 2 engines. The 2.0 TSI 211 hp or the R. The R is already a pretty beefed up 2-litre. How wil this hold ...

Did you uprate anything on yours shak? I was looking at stage 1 can the clutch and other parts handle the extra power? What are you getting from yours? Not upgraded anything else, mines a dsg so they can handle Bhp way more then at stage 1. I do know that on the manuals you can suffer from prematur...
