Re: 122 TSI cold start sound
Mine does exactly the same. Horrible spluttering and popping when usually left for around 6 hours - lasts around 30 seconds. Revs around 1200 then drops down to 900 and silent. I've been back and forth to the dealers and after a year I finally got an answer. Apparently the engine does this when the ...

Re: Main dealer or Independent dealer for a service?
I think if its classed as a 'performance car' I'd go for main dealer. Only reason I say this is that when sold my 350z they made a big deal of having proper, recognised dealerships looking after it and said they'd look for this is a high spec performance car but don't think anyone would be too fusse...

Re: BUYING ADVICE NEEDED - 1.4 122bhp or 160bhp??
lewihoga, what have you managed to get out of it now after the remap?
I was exactly the same position - same budget and either an older (possibly dodgy) 160 or a high mileage 2.0 or tdi - so hopefully trying to maximise its potential for now!

Re: BUYING ADVICE NEEDED - 1.4 122bhp or 160bhp??
I went for a 122 and must admit, wish I'd gone for the higher power unit. You think you've saved yourself a bit but end up spending £££ to improve it! Took a 170 TDI out and really enjoyed it and can't help but think wish i'd gone for that. I think you're best off trying to put a few more quid aside...

Re: 1.4 TSI 122 Engine noise
Same here - that's exactly the noise I get. Certainly doesn't sound healthy anyway. Yet obviously not all 1.4 122's produce the noise. Just a bit miffed as if ever came to sell it can imagine people walking away as soon as they get a whiff of that clatter! Had 2 dealerships initially tell me 'never ...

Re: Tailgate rattle VW Tech ref TPI-20233774/1
Hi homeform,
What noise do you get/when does it come on? I've tried bump stops, numerous visits to VW and called no joy. So I'm really struggling to get rid. What does the tpi pertain to?

Re: Opinion on 1.4 122 tsi
Not sure if you still looking but I've got a 122 and whilst fun, don't take anything bigger (including the 140tdi) out fora test drive. It'll only make you yearn for one of these. The diesel 170 is great fun and put my 122 to shame. If you can stretch to any of the others I would

Re: Engine noise question
Hi I've been having exactly the same problem with my tsi. Went to one dealer who were obviously concerned and changed tensioner chains, camshaft adjuster, tappets...not made any difference in the slightest. Went to another dealer who spoke to VW and told me is all about getting the temp up and not t...

Re: 1.4 TSI 122 Engine noise
Bit of an update.. So all that changed/replaced...and 5 weeks being with VW..they replaced the tappets and lo and behold it hasn't made the slightest difference! Maybe it is a normal trait of the engine but just worry with talk of chains going/solenoid valves etc from other posts something is still ...

Re: Bad warranty work.
Made me laugh about the up...had a up as a c car for 2 weeks now
Asked for something better but said they only bother with ups now as they so cheap and they can afford to run more of them (i.e if they had golfs they would only be able to run a few and you'd have to wait ages for a courtesy car

Hi Guys Basically having a 'mare with my 10 plate 122 roc. Only had for 5months. Bought it from VW with 25k on clock and been to and fro to VW since. First with the noisy rattle at start (which is probably normal afterall) but they changed the tensioner, camshaft adjuster etc etc (never fixed the no...

Re: 350z to scirocco
I did the same. Miss the ride and brute power of the zed, the roc doesn't come close (although should imagine the 2.0 litre would be better). As for problems I've had a few niggles - trim and odd noises mainly and never had any problems with the zed other than the cd player packing in. Hoping my cha...

Re: ACC and Not ACC
Not sure if it helps, but when i took one out recently for a test drive trying to work out how much difference it made the VW chap told me that thats exactly how its set up -i.e non ACC cars are just in the equivalent of 'normal' mode of ACC

Re: 1.4 TSI 122 Engine noise
Thought i'd feed back to guys with similar issues after picking up the car from VW - they replaced the chain, camshaft adjuster (apparently I had early one which had/has issues) and tensioner. Early doors but no noise on start now... ( i had the clatter for around 30-45 sec revving at 1200 then dipp...

Re: 1.4 TSI 122 Engine noise
Sounds the same as me carman. No rhyme or reason to it...doesn't appear to be related to outside temp - the warmer weather appears to have made worse if anything so am not sure I buy into the 'needs to warm the cat up' explanation. I'd be happy to upload a vid to anyone wants to compare. Anyway, too...

Thought i'd give a bit of an update..i ordered some Yeti ones from the local skoda main stealer- but they were slash not straight. (5L0071910 - not sure if this tallies with what other people have ordered) They also fitted them for me all in for £27 (but they said they had to take a small cut off my...

Fuel Gauge stuck
Hi guys...still fairly new to VW business having traded my 350z in recently.. Of course i've had it for 2 weeks and already few issues are rearing their head, namely the 'dieseling' noise on a cold start and lights issues but had another odd one today.. When i filled to the brim (so i thought) my fu...

Re: 1.4 TSI 122 Engine noise
Glad to hear its not just me with this horrible noise for first 20 odd seconds, revving around 1200 rpm, then drops to 800 or so and fine. How long have you had this guys? Reading around, appears to be EGR warming up and actually normal? Fairly eager to get sorted...only had it for 2 weeks, but from...
