Re: DPF problem
Don't think you will have much of an issues if you have a good run once per week. One thing is if you floor the throttle you tend to overfuel the engine and on a car without a DPF you get a cloud of black smoke. In a car with a DPF this smoke (soot) is collected by the DPF. So if you only scoot arou...

Re: DPF problem
I don't think there are a lot of DPF issues My car has nearly 31000k on the clock and this is the first I have had. It can be a bit of a pain if you do a lot of short journeys as you become aware of the DPF Regen in action (increased tickover at idle, kind of burning smell and even the issue of havi...

Re: DPF problem
Took car to garage today and the problem seems to have been a faulty sensor which had kept the DPF Regen active. Going to give it a good run tonight.

DPF problem
A strange thing happened to my Roc yesterday. Went shopping (about 6 miles away) and noticed the DPF Regen had started, nothing unusual as I had been driving around town for much of the previous week. Came back from shopping and it was still doing it on the way home. Next day I dropped the wife at w...

Tyres and jacking
Can someone tell me where a tyre company would jack the front of the car up if I took it in for a couple of tyres. Want to make sure they jack the car up in the proper place. Would have went to my local dealer for the tyres but they wanted about £26 a tyre more than Tyreshopper for Bridgestones. Als...

Re: Fan over run on switch off
Looks like it was DPF regeneration that was taking place as that is the symptoms you get when this takes place.

Re: annoying rattle offside rear
If you slacken the bolt enough with the allen key you can pull the unit out slightly further from the main body of the housing. Then re-tighten the allen screw and see if that helps.

Re: Need new front tyres @ 15,700 miles!?!?
I have Bridgestone on mine which the fronts were changed at about 14K. Now done nearly 23K and looks like the fronts will need changed in another 5K miles. At 23K the original rears have more tread left on them than my second set on the fronts. I am not a hard driver and I suspect the the Bridgeston...

Re: Confused about my servicing
My TDI 140 is set for Longlife and first service came up at 18000 cost about £135 Car has only used about 1 Ltr oil over that period :) . Checked about 1k after that service and service indicator is saying much the same duration till next service. I have always got the dealer to leave it on Longlife...

Re: DRL = Rear Lights Too?
Don't think so ! VW quick solution on the Roc appears to be, just switch on dipped headlights! Not exactly the proper implementation of DRLs. Can't switch mine off and my dealer refuses to switch them off for me.

That's funny cause I have an unwanted option too, Stealth Mode . Every so often I seem to be invisible to other peoples radar, even though I have DRLs on and my car is Candy White

Re: IPOD Noticed Problems With Media-in
Hi, I too have had this problem but I don't think that it is a physical problem with the connector, at least in my case. I have an old 20GB mono iPod which I leave connected. If I skip tracks several times this fault pops up and is repeatable. I tried my wife's 30GB colour iPod or my own iPod Touch ...

Re: Merlin cloth seats
I had this issue with the driver seat, the dealer replaced the seat cover and the complete handle assembly. There is a little set of rearward facing teeth in the handle assembly that the cloth is stretched over. The material was slightly torn hence the new cover to get some fresh material and new ha...

Re: Over heating 170 TDI
Hi Peter VW My point is that regen (I beleive) requires the engine to be ON, if it's off then the DPF cylce ain't happening! Hi, If the Regen is doing its business as you are driving you probably won't notice it. However as the engine runs hot while it is working then when you stop the car like I d...

Re: Over heating 170 TDI
I believe this is normal. I spoke to the senior tech at my dealership and he confirmed it. It is the first stage of DPF regeneration. It also happens periodically when driving but its hard to notice. Here is what I noticed:- " I stopped car at house both and fans were running, RPM at 950 lifted...

Re: First vist to the dealer "update"
Been to get a new backrest seatcover for the drivers seat . They had to remove the whole seat assembly. However they have not fitted the new one correctly as material is still pulling out from under the seat latch assembly So back to see the garage tomorrow.
