Rough ride down to "software update" VW says

I posted previously about the performance issues and rough ride that the VW dealership had supposedly fixed when it went to the dealership last week. The car was there again yesterday to investigate the same issues because I still wasn't happy with it - and after another software update it still has...

Re: Odd engine management update - spoke too soon!

Dammit - power is back but feels like I'm driving on a pebbly road the whole time now. Need to put it in "comfort". Could be suspension problem. Feels like a slight vibration coming from the wheels the whole time. Called the dealer -got the usual crap about no loan cars until 2012, and the...

Odd engine management update - spoke too soon!

My June '09 2010 Roc had its first service a couple of weeks ago - nothing unusual, just oil and filter changes at 10,000 miles. I'd mentioned that the boot didn't "pop" completely and you need to have a hand on the lip to open it - they checked and said it needed a new boot lock and it we...

Re: Boot opening problems

Superb - thanks for the tips. If it ever gets above freezing here then I can try all that! So good to have people in the know here for really simple but niggly things. I guess that's what makes this board special, that we have a common interest and it's a community. OK, finished gushing now! ...

Re: Boot opening problems

Good to know I'm not alone then! I think I'll mention it to the dealer and try the WD40 as well, that and the Silicone spray for the windows. With the adverse weather about to hit yet again I think my windows might just conk out all together!

Boot opening problems

Hi all Long time since I've been on the board - very happy with my June '09 Sumatra 2.0 Tsi. It's bedded in well, behaved itself so far in the crazy snow and ice and never fails to put a smile on my face when I get inside. I have one niggle though that I don't know if it's a fault on just my car or ...

Re: Truffle Leather...

I went for Sumatra with truffle leather - looks fantastic, as the Sumatra has a vague coppery tinge. I have some pics on one of my posts.

Re: Photos of my Sumatra

Thanks everyone for the great comments and feedback. Personally I do love the colour and everyone who has seen it does too - fortunately! I was down in Kent on Sunday where there was a VW show on somewhere - i saw the signs for it - so lots of Golfs who passed by and did the pointing thing - I love ...

Photos of my Sumatra

I absolutely love my Sumatra Roc which is two months old now. Really getting used to how it drives and enjoying every mile. Here are some photos of the freshly washed beast in the sunshine. (BTW, that's not my Yaris - the horrible little box belongs to next door!) For anyone pondering whether to go ...

Re: The Viper has landed!

Amazing colour. The guys in the office who all drool over mine all say they like the Viper too! Know what you mean about having to keep it under control and not thrash it - the 2.0 Tsi is fantastic. Enjoy every monent of it. And just try keeping it clean - I was lucky that we had the heatwave i.e. n...

First couple of days impressions

I drove it very tenderly for the first day - felt like every car was going to hit me, every passing lorry would side-swipe my mirrors, every bump or notch in the road give me a problem. I doubt I got it over 3000 rpm at all on day one. :D Day 2, I was a little less cautious, especially over the spee...

Re: Sumatra/Truffle - it's arrived!

Not sure about the situation outside the UK, but UK cars come with both leads as standard, and if you haven't got it then the dealer is pulling a fast one (expect to pay £25 for an ipod lead if you didn't get yours at delivery, and you don't bring it to the dealer's attention). There have been peop...

Re: Sumatra/Truffle - it's arrived!

Hi Tawny Congratulations :) Just wondered if you got a 2009 or 2010 model ? It's the 2010 model. As I understand it, anything built from Week 23 onwards will be 2010. New steering wheel is very nice. I didn't go for the upgraded alloys or Xenons though. Lunchtime was a quick trip to the supermarket...

Sumatra/Truffle - it's arrived!

Collected it today - 8.30 due at the dealer, and I arrived at 8.15! It was waiting in the showroom for me and the colour is outstanding (photos to follow at some point). It looked grey while it was inside, and now it's parked in pole position in the office car park (causing quite a stir!) it is stun...

Re: Countdown to delivery

Pick up is scheduled for Thursday! Can't wait now. :hyper: Got off a red-eye flight from Boston on Friday morning and was at the dealer by lunchtime to sort out the final paperwork and choose a numberplate...it was that important! The VW 7 day free insurance deal was easy to arrange - the dealer com...

Re: Countdown to delivery

Good news! Dealer called yesterday to say that my car had gone straight from "Assembly" to "Ship" and is now on the boat on the way to the UK. It should be at their UK Compound in Greenham (wherever that is) and then at the dealership for the PDI sometime next week. It can someti...

Re: Countdown to delivery

Direct Line quoted me £58 a month - we'll get a one year Gap Insurance, they waived the £50 cancellation on the breakdown insurance and said we could reinstate it when we needed it in a year's time. I do quite high mileage too - 20,000 a year. My Admiral online quote came out at £52 a month. We had ...

Re: What Colour?

OMG - I hadn't realised that Sumatra is BROWN!!! Holy cow! Oh well, I've gone for the truffle leather interior so that at least will keep it colour coordinated. Must admit I thought it was more grey than brown, but will be fascinated to see it in the flesh now. Hope I haven't made the wrong ch...

Countdown to delivery

I finally got good news from my dealer that my Roc has been built this week (Week 23). On Thursday is was at "Final Assembly Check Level 7" out of 10 apparently and by mid next week they will have the "awaiting shipment" date. He says to expect delivery to me about 3 weeks after ...
