Maybe there are just massive variations in the engines as they seem to be around 40-45 or 50-55. I don't agree with the dealer that it could be driving style or the tyres making that much difference as my previous GTi was getting good mpgs.

Just thought i would post an up date! The car has now been back a couple of times and been test driven - initially they did 2 x 14 miles and got 45mpg, however they didn't go over 1800 revs! Not being too happy they agreed to do it again, which they have just done and did 116 miles over the weekend....

Well now done a couple of mpg checks on fill ups and averaged 41mpg. This is a mix of short (7-10 miles) and longer (between 25 - 110 miles) journeys so not great. Getting about 460 per tank. Does anyone know if it might just be the weather or is there something that might need to be looked at?

Just out of interest do you live in a particularly hilly area? on my commute home I have 1 long hill I go up for about a mile.
