Scirocco Central

Hi I noticed a problem with my Scirocco yesterday when turning the air con on all that happens is a hissing noise and the air doesn't come through cold. Any ideas on what the problem could be? My first thought was the gas but I don't use the air con much and have never had to get it re-filled on any...
