Re: **VW emissions affected roccos **
I've read some shocking stories about 140 Passats and Tiguans being done, vibrations at 1500, poor fuel consumption etc etc. Our 177 Passat is in for a service on Tuesday and won't be done. The problem is that once done it apparently cannot be reversed so we'll be leaving as is. Have a look here. ht...

Re: TDi 140 vs 170
I've noticed that the 177 is coming down in price now, they are very economical and have more torque, agree with other posts that leather makes all the difference. All are common rail.

Re: Car value
Just read your other posting where you mention ride and potholes. I'm on my third scirocco and have (last week) moved from an r-line 177 to a gt 184, mainly because I couldn't get on with 19inch wheels. I originally had a gt and knew how different the ride is and how potholes seem easier to drive ov...

Loss of power
Hi all. Driving along in my 177 diesel Dsg at about 50 and I lost power, putting my foot on the throttle did nothing and it started to decelerate as if my foot was off the pedal. I tipped it over and back again and it became normal straight away. I guess it's a software glitch as it happened once a ...

Re: Will this VW scandal effect anything?
If there is a problem there will be a recall and this will not affect residuals, I can't see there is anything to worry about, a big hype that matters not a jot to values as far as I can see. Might be wrong of course.

Re: Tsi reliability ?
Agreed, I did 35k in mine without problem and averaging about 34 to the gallon (dsg too) excellent car, as was the roc 177 diesel that replaced it.

2.0litre Petrol facelift engine
I posted a few weeks ago with regards to torque figures the the 2.0 litre, they now match the R at 258 with presumably better fuel consumption. Worth a thought, I've a 177 diesel DSG but could well go back to the petrol next time with the diesel like torque in them. I'd be interested to see what new...

Re: 2014 model pre facelift or new facelift model
It's interesting in that I've a 2013 177 R line which is brilliant, I had a 210 gt before and that was equally brilliant for different reasons, mainly petrol bhp vs the torque of the diesel. The new scirocco petrol is 220 not 210 but the torque is the same as the old R. Now that's impressive! I don'...

Re: Scirocco R or 2.0 TSI?
I've had this debate with myself several times! I had the 210 dsg and absolutely loved it and in the end didn't go down the R route although I can completely understand why some do. If fuel consumption is an issue then the gt is much better. I ended up swapping my gt for a 177 R line earlier this ye...

Re: 2.0L Tsi Wastegate Rattle Cure?
I had my previous 2.0tsi done by the VW dealer I bought it from, no charge. They are in Sawston, Cambridge. I know that is a long way for you but I've just part exchanged it at Altringham VW who have been brilliant, it might be worth trying them, they are good people.

Re: 2.0 Tdi vs 2.0 Petrol
I've just (yesterday!) changed my 210 petrol dsg for a demo 177 dsg diesel. The petrol scirocco was brilliant with no problems, excellent performance and economy (35 mpg regularly), the drive home after the deal was 172 miles and it averaged 56mpg and went like a rocket! I love both the petrol and d...

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
I know what you mean about the arthritis, I'm the same age with similar condition. I'll keep going with it as long as I can. Out of interest I see you are going from a 170 to the audi 177, have you test driven it and if so, what is the difference? I like the look of the Q 3

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
At 61 with full no claims mine is £170 and so anything under £600 for a 21 year old is excellent. Mine was a demonstrator when I bought it with 5k on the clock and many extras including corn silk leather, reversing sensors, cruise. It's 3 years old in March and has 30k on the clock and has cost the ...

Got all those! Also got an 11 year old Boxster S which I'd like to upgrade but don't realistically use it enough.

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
We'll, I'm still over 60 as stated last week ! All this talk about Morris minors and my own regret selling my 2cv I'm looking again at a classic as a 2nd car, possibly an old vw! My Roc is up for replacement this year, I want an auto and have looked at and driven a Renault Clio 200t and was very imp...

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
I agree - I'm also over 60 and retired - often being out and about when others are at work - sorry!- there are a lot of other 'older' sciroccoists - out there on the road. The children have flown - we don't need the Passat anymore to cart heavy loads to the football pitch or university and heavy du...

Re: Starting to feel too old for my Scirocco
Well, I'm over 60 and I love my 2.0 TSI DSG and could well get another one when the time is right. When I was 40 I had a Fiat Uno, 50 a Golf GTI MK 2! I do like heated seats though!

Looks brilliant without the stripes, please keep us posted about what you think of the engine and torque in particular as I'm looking to change my tsi gt 210 when 3 years old in March, possibly for this engine. It should be pretty quick and economical.

Latest scirocco?
Good morning all, any advice welcome I have a gt 210 tsi and thought about upgrading to a scirocco R last year (much good advice given, thanks) but decided not to mainly because of the fuel consumption and overall cost. I regularly get 36 mpg out of my tsi which is a dsg, I'm really pleased with thi...
