Re: DRL's On New Scirocco
Would a Dealer do this do you think, or is it private only?

DRL's On New Scirocco
I have seen a couple of 13 plate Sciroccos recently with the main beam lamps on dimly like other VW's (no tail lights, side lights). Assuming this is a new specification for the recent models, do you think we could have our older cars set like that at the Dealers now? I Emailed VW asking why they we...

Re: 2 months in rusty brake discs!
I cleaned mine with brake clean and a scotchbrite pad and painted them with an aerosol of silver hammerite. I did my Golf with the same and in 3 years it never burned or rusted off, and the Scirocco has been fine for 12 months.

Re: BlueMotion - is it worth it?
I got my 140 BMT last July and it has exceeded my expectations. I only do 18 miles per day in it to work and home and it's returning an average of 58MPG. it gives 62+ MPG on a good run including motorways at 70 MPH indicated speed and running the legal limit on A roads. I think this is good because ...

Re: Poor Head lights
I asked the Dealer to check the alignment on mine at the first service, but they were no better. I upgraded the bulbs and they were still no good, so I checked the alignment myself with the beam setter at work. I couldn't believe how low they were! needless to say they are good now. I would suggest ...

bonnet underside
I've had my Rising Blue Scirocco for about 4 months now (bought second hand from a main Dealer) and decided yesterday to wash the engine bay and bonnet underside. Sprayed Autoglym engine and Machine cleaner over engine bay and bonnet underside as I've always done with all my previous VW's and when I...
Re: Servicing
I spoke again to the Dealer explained that I'm doing mainly short stop start town driving and they agreed it needed to be serviced and I've booked it in. The service receptionist must of been having an off day when I called last time.
Re: Servicing
I'm going to speak to the Dealer again tomorow and check that they understand, if they refuse i'll take it to a closer Dealer. I'm only using them because I bought it there and the sales service was good and I like to build up a good relationship and return in the future with confidence. If they fai...
Re: Servicing
My car is coming up to 1 year old and has currently done 5200mls it's on longlife regime, I have approached the Dealer about servicing it and putting it on time and distance but they seem unwilling to service it. It has a free service package with it and when I bought it (used) the salesman said I c...

Re: Advice needed please guys! :(
I have been through the same sort of thing with Seat, Vw and Skoda. They are sympathetic at the beginning but eventually imply that it's your problem and they can't help you. I have also said that I won't buy another Vw product but I like them and keep buying them. The Salesmen tell you that Vw rule...

Cleaning front bumper grille
Hi guy's I was wondering what method you all use for general cleaning of the honeycomb section of the front bumper grille. I drive on many muddy country back roads and I'm dreading this winter when there will be lots of mud around. Does anyone have a good tip or product which makes cleaning the gril...

Re: Towbar for a 170 GT?
I don't think a towbar will be available for the Scirocco, as it isn't type approved and I wouldn't think it can be done retrospectively. My main reason for not buying a Scirocco was no towbar option, but decided to fit one to my Skoda instead, so I bought one! The Westfalia detatchable towbar for t...

Re: Highways Agency Officer Confused by DRL
I think the DRL's are a good feature I just wish that it was only the front lights on rather than looking like your just running with the lights turned on. It would be good if the car could be recoded to just run the dim headlamps like other VW's do. The auto light feature is pretty much redundant i...
