Had the clip fitted today, Technical Bulletin 2021062/7 now /8 (wonder what the difference is between /7 and /8 is ?) works! With the window down, I can just hear the rattle occasionally - but it is at least 90% quieter. Why did it take VW so long to sort this out? Hurrah!

Hello, rang my dealers in Portsmouth, they confirm the Technical Bulletin 2021062/7 is correct. The only problem is the clip part no. 06J 145 220 A will not be available until 02 December 2011. When it eventually turns up, I hope this will resolve the rattling noise.

Confirmed it is just a firmware 'upgrade', no actual mechanical work is done to the gearbox. From the short journey home from my dealers, no obvious change was detected.
