Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

The exhaust spluttering is quite normal with the engine idling during the first 75 seconds while performing the EGR warm-up phase. VW have slightly delayed the combustion process further so it burns more in the exhaust manifold with the 24s4 Engine ECU maps to aid heating of the Catalytic Converter...

Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

Theoretically i already have the spark plugs that you mention, and the problem exists. Don't know if additional regapping would be of any benefit, probably yes, bit I'mnot very knowledgeable in this area ;) If it's better after the update, and it only does this when cold, and not under heavy load, i...

Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

It lasts only for about 30 seconds. i didn't feel any misfires while driving, both when idling and under load. It was in fact quite dry since I've bought it, but now the weather changes, so maybe it will help somehow. I think I'll wait and see for now. Observing the weather and petrol changes. The f...

Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

Unfortunately i have neither tools nor knowledge to check the plugs. It's a leased car, so the only place where i can service it is an authorised garage.but they say, that if they can't find a problem, they won't do anything about it. 99ron is way too expensive, but i may try it once :) Is it at all...

Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

I've been to the dealers. They've kept the car overnight and where suppose to connect the computer and start it up on cold, to see what's going on. They say they did it, and that everything is all right, engine is running quietly and smoothly. I don't know if they didn't check it properly, or starte...

Re: Buying a scirocco.

Read about 160 misfires. It's very well covered here. Don't let it curb you enthusiasm though ;) in short, engines made before the first half of 2010 may exhibit problems with engine misfiring, which may cause even a piston damage, and engine replacement. If you are after the car from this period, c...

Re: Buying a scirocco.

it's always nice to have more power, but you have to be realistic :) I've found 160 enough for the twisty backroads, and anywhere where you don't have to accelerate hard above 140 kmh. On the other hand, 210 was still under powered above that speed. so you get a faster car, but still no super car :)...

Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

RW1 you are a true roccopedia (but You probably hear this a lot) ;)! Mine sounded today exactly as in your mp3, apart from occasional misfires. The dealer says to wait a few days to collect any outstanding issues, so they can handle them all in one go. Maybe I'll drive there today, so they can conne...

Re: cold start mis fires on tsi 1.4tsi

Did the dealers ever correct this on Your cars? Mine is brand new, I've picked it up 3 days ago and it misfires on cold start for around 20-30 seconds and then works flawlessly. Yesterday it was pretty worrying, as the car got wobbly, the revs weren't stable and i could hear and feel the misfires. T...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Wow, that was quite quick! Ordered on 8th march, official build week 16 (16-20 april), but at the end of that week the car was still in the factory. But who cares as it's finally here! Picking up tomorrow...
So practically, it took two months and a week from order to delivery!

Re: Scirocco R Line now on VW UK site

The problems You have are certainly not because something can't be done in the factory, because the specs didn't change in every other country. I wouldn't mind a discount, or additional extras on my order, but in my country there were no changes for about a year...

Re: 1.4 160ps 2011 - anyone had issues?

It's reassuring, that still there are no reports of new engines to fail. First posts about failures in 2009 cars where already showing up at t the end of the same year... As for the demo car, probably every body tried to push it hard on their test drives. I drove a new scirocco demo (i was the first...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Do you know, what is the route for cars ordered in mainland Europe? My dealer says, that the car will be built in Portugal, then sent by train to Germany, then sent by train to polish importer's car park, and just then - sent to the dealership by truck. This amounts to around 4 weeks, as at every st...

@montstable / @motorsportmatt - when were your Rocs manufactured? From your posts history it's 2009 and early 2010, correct?

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Hey guys good afternoon I spoke to Inchcape Volksagen today, originally told me build week 12 but apparantly my car is at a uk port (code 40, this means nothing to me?) and he said it would take a week to get it to the dealer? unlucky enough for me that 'week' he is on holiday and so hes told me i ...

Re: What's your Build Date? (Estimated or Confirmed)

Hello everybody, I've ordered mine just a week ago in Poland (160HP manual candy). The rep gave me just a rough estimate of up to 16 weeks, but said it should be ready much earlier (2,5-3 months)... He also said, that we're waiting now for an official build week from factory. The question is, how qu...
