Perhaps the word re-map was the wrong way of putting it but surely the time of gear change can be altered? Is it not just a case of the maltronics being adapated in a way as to hold on the revs for a moment longer?

It's definately not the boot. I do get a squeaking noise from the boot but I'll get that sorted at a later date. The knocking is coming from the side 3/4 panel/underneath. It sounds to me like a loose fuel tank or loose panel.
