Re: Wheels for a rising blue R ?

20's are fine on a Scirocco. Mine had absolutely no real handling issues when i had the 20's on, even with the 10's at the rear! Just a bit of poke due to the immense offset and width  Tyres are pretty much rubber bands, but the 35profile 19's have such stiff sidewalls anyway there is little ch...

Re: Rusty wheel hubs

What problem? You've got wheel bolt covers..... Isn't the post about the hubs though? :? So it is, feck knows why i thought he said bolts. :fall: My roc is suffering from rusty wheel hubs, is anybody else experiencing this problem. Mine have a bit of rust on them but most of the cars I've owned hav...

Re: tyre pressure senson on....

Err, did you click the link above that shows the label on the car? I'll stick to my own knowledge too though thanks... you are of course completely welcome to do as you please. I see the pic, and it says 33psi (or 33.36 if you convert 2.3bar more accurately) minimum. You just told the guy to go wit...

Well the facts are, quite clearly, the Vehicle Manufacturer and tyre manufacturer know a hell of a lot more about it that you do.

Re: tyre pressure senson on....

38psi!!! Even if you'd been driving it like an off white Astra Max van those figures seem rather high!!! No idea on the warning light though... but i'd have your tyres somewhere between 30 and 32psi for a car the size of the Scirocco! Someone needs to go read the owners manaul, and read some tyre m...

Re: Brake pad lifespan

good job you didnt take andys advice you would of been well out of pocket My A4 needed a full set of pads at 20k, more than half the pad left, but the wear indicator was on........ Still can't believe you booked it into the dealer without taking the wheels off to check the brakes yourself! Taped up...

tonymar wrote:just had mine in for a service at 16000 miles and still plenty left on the pads maybe a fault with the warning system
Not a fault, the pad warning lights come on a lot sooner than minimum pasd thickness, no need to book it in at the dealer, just replace the pads!!, Or bypass the warning light.

Viper Rocco, nice to look at, but i wouldnt want to own one.

Might be a nicer colour on another car though, having thoughts about painting one of my MK2 GTI's Viper Green. . . . .

Re: Service Costs

Glad I got 3 years servicing thrown in by Specialist when I bought the car. Big problem with up here is lack of competition from nearby dealers - nearest are about 50 miles away any direction. 34 miles actually http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=specialist%20cars%20aberdeen%20to%20hawco%20pe...

Re: Problems with VW

It would seem so. It just leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. This should be a very pleasant experience. You are buying a great car, from a 'good' manufacture. Surely they can't feel good at the end of the day?? DK Have you never even looked at the standard of used cars on VW dealers forecourts???...

Re: Panel filter in an R

Best thing to do is just forget fitting the panel filter.

Its one of the biggest myths around that you get any benefit from a panel filter.

Just replace the paper filter more often if you're that worried about air flow. ;)

Guys, At no point did I suggest that I cannot afford to own or run an R. I was only noting how expensive it is to do just that. Leased and you're stuck with it http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7375&p=66868#p66868" onclick="window.open(this.href);return fa...

Re: What an expensive car....

Just wondered if my post about the GT had been misread ;-) I would actually disagree with your post on that cos the new engine in the GT is defo more economical and efficient than the older type engine used in the R. I'm averaging 25mpg most of the time...but then I don't drive it like miss daisy c...

Re: What an expensive car....

Quite frankly what an utter load of sh*t.

The car on like for like journeys does virtually the same fuel consumption as a GT, (even both cars remaped)

The servicing costs are no different to a GT, and insurance is prety much the same aswell.
