Re: TT Tdi Vs Scirocco Tdi

Not quite sure where you get 20% from unless you're comparing the TT TDI sport (which is 170PS) to the 140PS non GT Roc. TT TDI Sport = £28585 170 GT Roc = £25450 140 BMT Roc = £22225 Sorry, my bad, I looked at the Audi website and saw £30k+ (hence 20% more) what I didn't notice was that was the pr...

Re: TT Tdi Vs Scirocco Tdi

I looked at the TT when I got my Roc. They are not really comparable, the Roc is a practical, good looking hatch The TT is a impratical good looking coupe, its got a tiny boot, the rear seats are useless and its a lot more cramped inside. Besides the prices are not that comparable base price for the...

Re: thinking of a change... opinions needed!

Definitely Cayman over Camaro. Big and heavy gets dull after a while, I had a 350z for a bit and although it handled brilliantly it always felt heavy and I never really enjoyed it. £30K + gets you a lot of car though. Why a cayman over a 911? You could get a vantage for that sort of money... http://...

Re: Calling all salsa owners

Thanks SalsaJoe and Voyager. Thats good to hear.

I've raised the subject up with customers services and they are investigating (already gone up a level of seniority as the 1st person couldn't help). At least if I know others have a good match its not impossible.

Re: Jacking point (flange) got bent

VW do indicate that the Scirocco's standard boot jack points are the lifting points for a Trolley Jack. VW only specify two special precaution when using a trolley jack on the standard lift point front or back positions. Every days a school day, I take back what I said, but surely you do need, as m...

Re: Jacking point (flange) got bent

I am thinking the flanges are made for the supplied boot wind up jack ( with its v shape cup head). if you lift the car using a trolley jack with flat head, and especially at an angle, perhaps the force would bend it. Exactly this! On your boot jack the "flange" sits in a cup on the jack....

Calling all salsa owners

Calling all Salsa owners! I’m looking for your experiences… I’ve got a salsa which I love, it looks awesome but there is one nagging problem. The colour coding on the plastic parts on my car is frankly pants. :( The bumpers, spoiler and filler cap were shocking, a much darker red than the rest of th...

Re: GT 170. MPG

I once got 70.2 mpg indicated by the trip, but I was driving like a nun on an extremely quite M4. In the real world my fill ups regularly indicate 53-55 mpg whereas the trip shows 60+. Four up, all adults, I count myself as one, at a steady indicated 80 on the M5/M4 last week the trip indicated 53,...

Re: Scirocco unstable cornering at 180 kph.

The honest answer to the question of lifting off the accelerator is yes. And the proof is that the indicated speed drops off fairly rapidly. I do understand that I should be doing the exact opposite,i.e. increasing acceleration to pull the nose through the corner. However that is easier said than d...

Re: Scirocco unstable cornering at 180 kph.

Sorry if this sounds patronising but...

are you lifting off the accelerator when you start experiencing understeer?
"Lift off oversteer" is likely to happen at those sorts of speeds, don't suppose a Geo will help you much if its driving style thats the issue...

Re: Down shifting in DSG

If your revs will be really high after its shifted I don't think it will shift. (if that makes sense) Like it won't let you bounce off the rev limiter in manual mode, if you are changing down really early I don't think it will go to protect the engine from hitting the rev limiter. If you leave your ...

Re: 140 Bluemotion DSG getting rather low mpg ?

My 170 will only just squeeze over 62mpg on a warm day taking it very steady. Normal motorway driving is mid to high 50's in the summer and low to mid 50s in the winter. Just town driving then it can indeed be in the high 30s. 50/50 Mixture of both then somewhere in the 40s is the norm. The one thin...

No extra options, and normally they won`t bargain much on the asking price They are a lot cheaper the VV dealerships Only try and get as much as I can for my part ex (they offered £500 more than my local VV dealer and that was over the phone!!! No options at all? No parking sensors, leather, nav, b...

Re: Seal tyres and regular can I mix?

agreed, probably best not to mix and match tyres on the same axle but its not likely to be the end of the world.
Sealing tyres are nowhere near that much BTW. I got them from blackcircles for £180 a corner.
It was only £30 a tyre more than normal mid-range tyres in that size anyway.

Re: Roc vs UK Width Restrictions

It is a widecar but its nowhere near as wide as a big SUV or a transit or something like that. Do they fit? I go through a realy narrow width restictor most mornings and have to creep through but it fits. They feel and look a lot wider than they really are. Oh and the wing mirrors are really quite b...
